Died today, about 3 o'clock Est, about 9:30 Rome time.
I am a Catholic, and I am happy that a great man died rather peacefully and did not drag along in a coma or vegetative state. I am also happy to see the out-pouring of support for this great man, even from non-Catholics.
Anyway, just turn on the news and you can hear all about it.

I, for one being a Christian sees a great man who helped alot of people and also tried to bring christians and muslims together as friends. It is sad he had to go but he has a home in people's hearts with God and Jesus.
Rest in Peace
John Paul II

The way the media treated him prior to his death came across to me as very morbid and unsettling.
Most news channels were already wheeling out the pope tribute packages before he'd even conked it as if building up to some big dramatic payoff.
Several stations even had some OTT graphics on which you expected a tagline akin to "The Death of Pope John Paul II, this time, its personal".
Each were summing up his life before his death and kept talking about the man in the past tense.
God forbid I watch fox news, but when I flicked onto that, I get two asswipes prattling on about nothing over the top of this haunting service piped through from the Vatican.
There was something unnerving about watching the news in the past three days, but I'm glad the guy has at least found some peace from all this shit.
