Straight Edge is a lifestyle popularized by over zealous people who like to show off.
Generally, being Straight Edge means you do no drugs, do not drink, and listen to Emo Music. Variations of Sraight Edge include what is known as Hard Edge, which also limits people to no premarital sex and no caffiene. Another one is Lax Edge, which allows smoking, both ciggarettes and marijuana. However, emo music is a must.
Although I have drank in the past, and I despise emo music, I have never had premarital sex, never smoked a ciggarette or a joint, never done a rail or popped an unprescribed pill. I am rather boring in my straight edgeness.
I make up for it with weird sexual fetishes.

Ahh, righto.
Alot of ravers who don't do pills, or who have quit but still rave, tend to say they're straight edged. Although most tend to quit raving after quitting pills because as good as the music is, its never as good as when you are on pills.

"Straight edge" is for @#%$ little assholes who get off on being what they perceive to be superior to others. They don't seem to get that no one cares whether or not they're doing drugs. No one. No offense, Ahnk.
I do frequently drink. That is all I'll say on the matter. And I've had premarital sex.
I have smoked (we're talking about one cigarette), but do not, as my family has a genetic susceptability to cancer on both sides. Anyone who smokes in my family is 100% guaranteed to die before eighty of lung and brain cancer. Everyone in my family smokes.
I do not and have never done drugs of any kind. Not for any particular moral imperative, I just don't. I feel they're stupid and serve only as a time and money drain. This being Canada, many of my friends smoke marijuana recreationally. All the more power to them; if that's a choice they want to make, I don't feel the law should persecute them for the use of such a relatively harmless drug. Its their money and their choice to end up in a house with wheels.
On the subject of "raving". Anyone who is a raver can count themselves as a member of the stupidest group of people on earth, hands down. The music is shitty and repetitive, and the risk you're taking as asinine. What's the point? Good job, idiot, you just took designer drugs, spent the night gyrating about without drinking water, and now you've had a heart attack. Hope you had a good time.
Even if you survive, where the hell is the fun? Wow, way to go, you've thrown away a good portion of your life grinding your crotch into some STD-encrusted skank's ass. Nicely done. Enjoy your new life at the homeless shelter.

Since I know what it's like not to be able to breathe (occasional asthma attacks, almost died from it a few times), I have chosen not to kill my lungs with smoke and tar. Although, I'm quite interested in the concept of pipes and 'exotic' tobacco, and I have it on my Things to do Before I Die list. Once I'm older, and past my physical prime I'll probably give it a try.
I've had a couple opportunities to try pot, but I've declined respectfully. I don't trust myself to be able to resist an addiction that would destroy me.
I know what alcohol will do to someone, I've seen it firsthand and was almost not born because of it, and thus I abstain. I also happen to enjoy a functioning liver.
Sex I haven't had. Plenty of time to enjoy that later with the woman I marry.

Tried one cigarette and as much as I liked it I saw what it did to my family so I said screw it.
Never tried drugs no matter how much people have tried to get me to.
I drink from time to time but not heavily.
