Just rented Battlefront and I must say it is pretty badass.

Can fly X-wings, Tie fighters...you can be just about any Empire, Rebel, CIS, or Trade Federation soldier...

And you can shoot Ewoks without feeling too guilty. After all, the little bastards killed me about a thousand times before I could finally get one...

A definite must-buy.

Damn. This thread is making it more appealing to purchase. I don't know if it would be wise for me to get it-- I would never come here again to post.

I started playing the X-box version last night. It was pretty good. I'll probably buy it when I get a chance.

That "Rome: Total War" looked pretty good too. Anyone play that yet?

No, but I've played the other Total War games. You should buy Rome Simon.

I've got HL2, Rome: Total War, and Battlefront on my need buy list. Dunno which is going to get it first though, definetly not HL2, since that appears to be pulling a DNF.

Penny Arcade has a review for Battlefront today. http://penny-arcade.com/news.php3?date=2004-09-22
There are things you'll see in this game that you desperately want to, have wanted to, for years. You can look out across a plain of ice and see an AT-AT craning its neck down at you and disgorging bolts of energy. Well, maybe you didn't want to see that. You can ride speeder bikes through the woods. You can drive an AT-ST on Endor and blast ewoks. I'm not partial to the Episode One period, but I'll be damned if I don't enjoy taking to the rolling hills of Naboo as the droid army and blasting gungans, watching them sail through the air on the shockwave from my explosive device. It really is cathartic. There is even a level where gungans systematically destroy your childhood memories, which is cool.

I like the part about killing Gungans. :)
Sounds good so far, you're thinking. We haven't talked about the AI yet. The AI is as dumb as paint.

The fill up the levels on or offline, making it appear visually that you are a member of a grand force. A grand stupid force, the 433rd Idiot Legion, a futuristic jobs program for social detritus.
:(
