Hacking Firefox to increase the speed:

1. Type "about:config" in the address bar
2. Set the value of network.http.pipelining to "true".
3. Set the value of network.http.pipelining.maxrequests to "100".
4. Set the value of network.http.proxy.pipelining to "true"
5. Set the value of nglayout.initialpaint.delay to "0"

As about:config is like a registry for Firefox, be very careful when changing values. The usual disclaimer applies. It would also be a good idea to make a note of the original values for the aforementioned options before changing them.

I have had to deal with several of those. Not my idea of fun.

Unfortunatly, the values and strings change in each version. I'm not smart enough to tell you how to fix it if your version isn't compatible, but if you check around, you can find it.

Sam, Firefox is great. It's so good I would actually be willing to pay for it.

I'm still using 0.8. I'm waiting for 1.0 before I bother upgrading again, it's such a pain to have to find all my themes, and install all the extensions over again.
