Finally, after a period of inactivity, we have the hurricanes of the 2006 season gearing up. Debby was a dissapointment, but Ernesto could prove more entertaining. By the end of the forecast period the storm is expected to be a major hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico and headed for New Orleans.
Elsewhere a roaming Category 5 hurricane in the Central Pacific may pound the crap out of Wake Island within a week.

Hey, Ernesto may be paying us a visit as a major hurricane torwards the end of the week. How nice of him.
Hurri...correction, Super Typhoon Ioke is still looking to make a major impact on Wake Island later this week too.

I am a first responder/law enforcement officer/volunteer firefighter. As wrong as it sounds I am likewise guilty. Once one is in this field it becomes somewhat addicting. Hut we are tacful. We do not toast fires in front of the home owners or praise a tought water rescue in front of the victims - -we wait until we are alone and then we compose books on our adrenaline addiction...

Eek. Wake Island (small sliver located upper left hand of screen), meet STY Ioke. Current winds 135 knt / 155 mph.
