well a linux format came in handy when our comp died last week... we had a corrupted sector on the drive and of course it had Windows on it instead of any of our 80 gig of useless crap.. so we popped in Linux, wrote all the crap we couldn't live without to disk, then reformated the drive... so Linux is useful to have on a disk to deal with a dead Windows
