I'm partial to a lot of bands, no real 'favoritest evor'. My top list happen to be Skillet, Project86, SF59, NIN, Radiohead and Jars of Clay.

Nickleback, why do they get so much dissing? Yeah, their songs tend to sound the same, but you gotta admit they are the epitome of the modern hard-rock grunge sound.

Aren't Skillet and Jars of Clay christian rock bands?

I only ask because I have friend that frequently listens to them.

Um for all the reasons you just mentioned. All their songs sound the same and if you're not a fan of a genre/sound then the band that is in your words epitome, and most commercially sucessful form of that sound will probably attract a lot of attention.

Basically all Nickelback has done is rip-off Pearl Jam, add a bit of country every once in a while, get an annoying haircut and repeat for 5 albums. Some artistic development would be appreciated.

Nickleback does not have a "sound". They have nothing to distinguish them from other bands. That is not to say they don't have some catchy, successful songs (they do), but they have no ability to expand and diversify.

Their sound has not changed since day one, and so what's their claim to fame? Art is an evolutionary process... Nickleback is still at the primordial ooze stage.

I'll second the guy who said Trooper. Great band.
