Yeah. I'm sure they already have people working on potential ideas for the next installment - unless they're leaving it as a trilogy (which I doubt). Factions would be nice, as well as more running room and 'continued play'.
Maybe even co-op for two people, both running around and taking down super mutants and such?
Also, back onto Fallout 3, has anyone managed to get the dog as a pet? Is it part of the story, or does it happen during your explorations as an 'unlock' of sorts?

The dog is one of the 'followers' you can get throughout the game. You can only have one at a time though and which ones you can get depends on your Karma. Once they die though, they are dead for good.
Oh and there is a good reason on why Fallout 3 ends and you cannot continue after the end of the main storyline, as I went ahead and just read everything on the main storyline. However I won't spoil it for you guys....

Turns out with the dog, Dogmeat as he is named, you can have another follower - he's basically considered more of a sidekick, and you can still use any of the other six followers while having the dog!
So go get him - his location and such is on youtube.

I am really enjoying this game. And I agree about the roaches. Those flittering wings, or the fire-ants shuffle or the damned scorpions....freak me the heck out when I have the lights turned out and the sound turned up.
I did not like the VATS targeting at first but I got used to it and it saved my bacon a few times.
I helped out the Vance character and solved the fire ant problem of another town. There is still a ton of stuff to explore on the map (I haven't even gone into DC yet as I am taking my time doing all these side missions to get cool gear). I am playing a do-gooder and someone hired some mercs to take my head for 1000 bottle caps.
I've been using a power station as an HQ to store misc junk (if I need to zip there, pickup some crap, and zip back to Megaton to sell it for quick cash) but every time I zip over there these mercs come out of hiding and try to jump me and killing them is where I get my better weapons and armor. Love the Rancor monster-thingy (Deathclaw?) that comes out and draws their attention away from me.
I've been carrying around a broken sniper rifle and shotgun in the hopes of being able to fix them at some point but so far I haven't been able too. Hoping higher repair numbers may do the trick.
I love the laser pistol that turns everything into nice, neat ash piles. I so dislike leaving rotting carcasses all over the place.
Haven't gotten any helpers yet but I do not think I am that far along. I've only been playing for about 23 hours, I believe.
If you liked Oblivion, you will definitely like this game. In fact, I liked this game more than Oblivion but that's because I felt Oblivion got a little too monotonous. Going through Oblivion gate after Oblivion gate got old for me but I have not finished that game and will still pick it up every now and then. But a Post Apocalyptic world is more my style.
I will admit to a certain curiosity if Fallout would have some "Mass Effect" action going on with the females and I came close to finding out in Big Town with a girl named 'Buttercup' who was sweet on my heroic stature. Unfortunately, in defending that town against an impending Super Mutant Attack, she died before I could kill all of them. Alas.

Wait until you find the alien weapon that can turn enemies into glowing piles of green goo ;).
Unfortunately, the harddrive Kalshion uses to store game information crashed and he lost all his saves. So...he has to start over once he can get around to reinstalling the game....

*whimpers*
Though I was able to recover the saves, the fact my save near the end was over four hundred mbs, made it dubious that it'd work, and I was right, it's so large that it was corrupted during recovery so... none of the saves except those below fifty mbs work and all those were before just a few hours into the game.
And I was JUST about to complete the game to.... I STILL can't help but wonder if the bug I ran into had something to do with it for it was to much of a coincidence..

You can get Dogmeat at any point in the game. You have to go to Minefield (the town), then head south east until you reach the 'Junk yard'; from there, run around until you find one of three red shipping containers, and he should be fighting some raiders behind one of those (just keep circling until you hear gunshots, or growling, or see bits of flesh flying through the air over hollowed out cars).
Honestly, I found him to be more of a pain, than a help - he kept getting in the way of my VATS, and at one point I accidently killed him by scoring a crit as he ran through the line of fire...
In the end I left him at the Vault 101 entrance, and then got Fawkes as my companion - he's a huge super mutant/human hybrid that carries around a laser gatling gun.
He rocks.

I did the minefield last night but just "jumped" back to Megaton to give the lady the mine. Then jumped back to a metro station and walked to Paradise Falls where they wouldn't let me in. I contemplated just shooting up the place but was not sure if killing a town (even a slaver town) would give me bad karma. So I ignored it and just walked north running into an enclave of five or six super mutants. After dispatching them, I went farther north and ran into a Radar Tower or something (set of three satellite dishes pointed up) which is where I stopped.
I may go back to destroy Paradise Falls if I can. I mean, if I am going to be hunted by headhunting mercs, I might as well make it worth their while and drive the price on my head up a bit.
Kalshion, that really hurts. I feel your pain.

By the way; be very cautious about the north west rader towers; if you grab the nuclear launch codes DO NOT FIRE THOSE NUKES!
I learned that if ya do; you have a 25% chance of those nukes actually landing on your position if you don't do those towers correctly... though if you do then it's a pretty explosion to watch =D
