A sad day in the history of the world, today is. Today marks a dark anniversary, where Empires began to fall and the world began to change. An era of shinning progress, of glory, of honour, and pride was swept away....a blanket darkness fell over the future bodding anarchy, democracy, and wretched independence.
Indeed. The 4th of July.
To the Americans, a celebrated holiday of an illegal act against a legitimate authority where the age of hypocrisy started - it was ok for the US to cecede from the British Empire, but it was not ok for the South to leave them. Problem here?
To the British, the beginning of the end of centuries of accomplishment. Sure enough, glories awaited, but they were fleeting. The Empire where the Sun never Set was dying.
So we all remember this day in our ways. Stalwart imperialists like myself close our eyes and imagine what an amazing land this would be if it were the Viceroyalty of Northern America...but not to be.
Perchance...to dream.
Happy 4th, Amis
