The fiancé and I have been rear-ended by a (drunk) driver. He hit us at about 55 kph (35 mph), and our car has been damaged quite severely. He hit us on the left side, with his right, after trying to swerve to avoid us (remember we’re in Australia, and it’s the opposite sides of the road here) - however his reaction time was considerably slow...
When he hit us, we slid in the rain and hit the car in front of us, dislodging their bumper. So, we'll be dealing with having to get this offender to pay for as much as we can - but, at least our cover will pay for that car in front.
None the less, we need to work out insurance and organize some payments and such, so I'm going to be away for at least a couple of days.
Everyone is fine, I suppose. Melissa has whiplash, and her neck is hurting on every side (front, sides, back), while I seem to be fine. My chest hurt last night, but today I'm okay as far as I can tell. The other driver was caught by Police when he fled the scene and headed home; they took a reading via breathing device, but he didn't get off without punishment.
So, if I'm scarce, now you know why.
See you all soon.
