There was a movie I watched a long time ago on A&E that I cant remember the name of...my memory of it is hazzy but it goes like this....
It starts out with this guy who wakes up in the morning, he looks over and sees the ton of pills he took last night (He tried to kill himself). he gets up gets dressed, goes to work... He works at some sort of power plant harnessing new forms of power, something about a test grid to harness power from the atmosphere or something like that.
Thing is he gets there and the grid is already active, his buddy started testing without him last night. he grabs his buddy by the shoulder and hes dead, face is fried or something. He goes out and theres no one about... anywhere... the powers still runing and everythings still going, theres just no one anywhere. Days and days go by and he starts going crazy. I remember he assembles a ton of dressed maniquins in his front lawn and walks out on to a balcony to greet them or something like that.
The power does finally go out and he grabs a portable generator and hooks it up to his house. He goes out exploring more, the hospitals are empty but he does find dead bodies here and there, and he makes the assumption that the test took everyone on earth and poofed them, except the people who died when it went off...
yada yada yada... he finds a man and a woman... falls for the woman, woman falls for the other man... he finds out the test was still running but cant shut it down from the controls. They plan to destroy the plant before it goes again, which is soon... the guys distruaght over losing the woman (Wouldnt you be? Last woman on earth and you lost her) so the other guy and the woman just finish having sex and they hear a truck taking off and its the guy in some huge rigg... and he drives it off into the place the tests were just as the grid goes off again.
And he wakes up again... on a beach... he looks around and into the ocean he sees the clouds pouring from the sky like falling waterfalls... and as the camera pans out he just stands there and you see a couple of moons and what looks like saturn... and the credits start rolling....
