Combined Clans Issue Statment
Propose to mediate conflict between Galactic Empire- Galactic Coallition, allies

Holonet Reporter: .....we have yet to recieve comment from any Galactic Coalition officals on the matter. In related news, as the reports of conflict continue to come in from across the Galaxy, we have recieved a message from our affiliates at the Bothan Holonews Network (BHN). The Combined Clans have issued the following statment, concearning the outbreak of hostilites. Here's an exerpt from the full statment:

".... therefore the the Combined Clans would like to express our intent of neutrality in the current conflict. We extend our concdolences to the innocnet bystanders in the conflict, and will be opening Bothan Space to any civillian refugees who have been forced from the planets by the hostilities. They will be provided with shelter, and the neccessities, free of charge, courtesy of the Bothan government..."

Holonet Reporter: The Supreme Councilor of the Combined Clans also released this statment to BHN reporters:

"This conflict was an inveitable, and terrible reality in our galaxy. It was merely a matter of time before the Galactic Empire and the opposition butted heads- both groups are dedicated to the destruction of the other. You can't keep whole populace's energized for war without actually producing a war. Such practices of course, are devastating to those people's whos planets are now battlegrounds. I hate to see such suffering- so I'm going to make an offer to all those involved. The Combined Clans offer to mediate this conflict, in an unbiased multi-party summit. I impolore both sides to consider this offer, and allow logic, reason and peace to reign once more in the galaxy."

Sovereignty Press Conference--Bakura

"Vice-President Meer. What is your responce to the recent invitation by the Bothans to host a Peace Conference?"


"I admire the Bothan's efforts to bring peace to the galaxy. The galaxy would be a much better place if more people worked towards achieving peace. However, any solution created by this peace conference would be temporary and in-effective. Such peace solutions have been brokered many times in the past, between the Empire and the New Republic, between the Jutraalians and the Mon Calamari but they've never been permanent solutions. They've always resulted in the transfer of a few planets here and there and in the end, there is no change. The Mon Calamari and the Jutraalians went to war no less than three times and each time a peace deal was brokered. This war will not be over until one side prevails."

"Why have you decided to ally yourself with the Galactic Coalition?"

"First off it was not my sole decision nor was it the decision of President Griff. There was a vote taken and it was supported by the Senate. Secondly, the Sovereignty has not allied itself with the Galactic Coalition. We are fighting the same enemy but we are not fighting with them. The Sovereignty has exactly one ally, The Hapes Consortium. We continue to maintain relations with them throughout this crisis. We have decided to fight the Empire because it serves the interests of the citizens of the Sovereignty that the Empire is dis-armed and defeated. Tomorrow it may serve the interests of the citizens of the Sovereignty to fight the Galactic Coalition. We will do what we must to defend our citizens and the citizens of the entire Outer-Rim."

"Sir, you have attacked the Empire. How can you call this defending your citizens?"

"I'm very glad that you asked me that question. The Empire has shown a long history of creating terror weapons, weapons that have no defensive purpose. They will continue to fashion these offensive weapons of terror and use them all over the Galaxy. The first as well as the second Death Star, the Sovereign Star Destroyer and the Eclipse Star Destroyer. All of these are offensive weapons with no place in defense. That is why we fight the Empire."

"So have you been alerted to the construction of another terror weapon by the Empire?"

"As of this moment no, I have not been alerted to the construction of another terror weapon. However it is likely that the Empire has designs to create such a terror weapon and it would make no sense to wait until it's been constructed to destroy it. We must be proactive in our defense against such weapons. The galaxy does not want to see another Eclipse Star Destroyer, it's already seen enough of them. Thank you."
