The B-Wing is more shielded but the tie bomber is more agile

It is sort of hard to compare them because a TIE Bomber is a dedicated bomber. A B-Wing is a snubfighter too and can actually stand up to Fighter to Fighter combat. The lasers on a TIE Bomber are just basically for defense.

The TIE Bomber is a general bomber that is a dedicated combat craft but also upgradeable for specific actions - it can be fitted with missiles/torpedoes to act as a launching platform against capital ships and also given proton bombs as to eradicate surface targets or even effect strafing runs on the superstructures of capital ships.

And in a much less-used profile, the Bomber can carry five mines for deployment thus allowing a standard capital ship to deploy a minefield that would otherwise require a dedicated vessel.

True - a TIE-Bomber has the ability to be modified by a ship's flight crew whereas the B-wing does not. A Bomber can be made into a mine-layer, a shuttle,n assault ship, or even a vessel for a boarding party (4-5 men at most)

Yet, the B-Wing would run circles around it, if the two clashed. Therefore, from a ship-to-ship dogfight basis, the B-Wing is better.

But, if you want to vote on how economical the craft is, then the Bomber wins.

They each have their own advantages and disadvantages.

My personal preferance would fall to the B-Wing E2 as an independant operator. Definatly choice from the pilots perspective.

The TiE-Bomber is a far more economical and functional craft better suited to the tactics employed by the Empire and other large fleets. As a fleet operations cooridnator, however; the advantages of the TiE are easily apparent.

Still, I'd weight in on the B-Wing.

(Chop two E2's down, mount both S-Foils around the rotating cockpit and you have one kickass, if clunky, Starfighter/Bomber)

Oh.. and...

Mwah!

The size of the TIE bomber makes it an easy target compared to the relative size and shape of the B-wing, so unless you have significant support against fastfighters, the TIE bomber isn't the best for long battles, nor for anti-air weaponry. Better to stick with the B-wing. What prompted this thread, anyway?
