The Venator-Class Star Destroyer?

Would the Venator-Class Star Destroyer be way outdated by the current time? Or would they be like the Naught, VicStar, and ImpStars and be powerful for a really long time? Like would any organization still have VenStars? I think they still have VicStars.

EDIT: And for that matter, what of the Accalimator-Class TransGalactic Troop Transports for AotC? Or the Acclamator II-Class Star Frigates?

Dreadnaughts which I assume is what you're referring to as a Naught are considered outdated as are nearly all cannon ships. It'll be powerful compared to say you're average planetary government but GC, BDE and TNO pretty much all have their own specialized ships that have replaced them.

As for the Venerator I'm not sure on the stats for that though if I recall Drayson had one so it wouldn't be super outdated or anything. But compared to current ships of similar proportions it probably wouldn't be as powerful. At the same time you wouldn't see a Venerator in the hands of anybody except TNO. GC and TNO aren't really fond of random people running around with any military equipment especially big ones like star destroyers and I'm assuming pretty much everybody else takes that stand.

Anything from AotC would be considered extremely old about 50 years or so.

Most of the ships that we use are less distinguished by being better technology but new technology we've R&Ded.

Edit:The Venerator used by Drayson was a TNO R&D and not a cannon ship. So I don't have a clue what you're talking about.

Something to consider:

The construction of a single Imperator-class StarDestroyer can cost more then the gross national product of an entire solar system. Taking that into acount it is impossible to imagine these vessles being in use for anything less then 50 (or so) standard cycles. Given that, it is very likely that most ships of that scale would undergo extensive and numerous retrofits/upgrades and overhauls. Even Dreadnoughts were used well beyond their prime, eventually falling to private sector fleets once their technology level had degaded to the point that given corporations could purchase and maintain said ships.

That's something TRF generally fails to take into acount. Even dated ships, on that scale, are things to behold.

They are powerful ships yes. But they're not in use because we're too busy R&Ding ships that cancel out the gimmick that the other guy R&Ded.

Well yes, in the Player Character groups, of course.

That is not to say that said vessles could not easily become NPC issue or "new" faction material without loosing too much in terms of relative power.

What?

The Venator R&D was one of my creations. It's actually the old Venator design and is now used solely as a troopship.

The explenation for a lack of Venators in the Galexy could be that they were designed before the Victory (just guessing). That explenation would make alot of sense because the Imperial is just a scaled up Victory, so it's a natural progression to make the Venator first.

The victory star destroyer is still in service wiht the corporate sector, and other groups bought victorys. I'd guess they also actioned off the Venartors when they were done with them. (Actually, I plan on including stolen Victorys from the corporate sector in a thread that basically is Kach's past in a few months)

I think the Venators were largely scrapped and that scrap metal was used to help construct a lot of those 25,000 ISDs that were built by the Empire's height.

You know you guys can't just fuck with whatever you want right?

Stealing from the corporate sector? I know someone who might oppose. Reviving the Massassi? I already did it and most of them are dead now. Let's NOT focus on how we can steal from canon to make ourselves more powerful. That stuff got old in 1999.
