Description:
The Stalwart is the last in a new series of modern support ships designed to fill in the spaces left behind by older vessels being phased out of service. This ship is an escort frigate, and as such it's primary purpose is to escort capital ships and provide convoys with added protection as well. The ship is somewhat similar in apperance to the aforementioned vessels, the Fury and the Dasher, but has no block connections what so ever. The vessel actually closer resembles a strike cruiser in apperance. The ship is divided into three main sections, the forward section housing the bridge and shielding and sensor/communications sections, while the middle compartment houses the hangar bays that hold the three squadrons of starfighters that the ship carries into battle to protect it's charges. The after section is devoted to the power core and drive engines. The weaponry of the ship is widely arrayed and consists of ten medium turbolaser batteries, situated four forward, three to port, and three to starboard, while the quad laser cannons are situated two forward, four to port, and four to starboard, while the torpedo launchers are located two to port and two to starboard. The drive engines are of the same class mounted on the Dasher, but because of the greater bulk of the ship and the power diverted elsewhere, the top speed achieved in sublight mode is just slightly faster than that of the Fury. The Protection is similar to the other two ships. The shields are triple layered, space five meters apart, with the outer layer being rated at 100 SBD, the middle layer at 150 SBD, and the last layer at 750 SBD. The hull is again a double hulled one, the outer hull registering at 300 RU, while the inner hull is at 200 RU, with again tightly packed cold foam in between the two hulls. And that summarizes the capabilities of the Stalwart.
