TNO - SS Streikender SPA
Name: SS 150mm Streikender SPA
Designation: Self-propelled Artillery
Crew: 5
Armor: 1/2 inch titanium alloy, 2 inches durasteel
Speed: 100 km/hr max, efficient 80 km/hr
Height: 6 meters
Length: 20 meters
Width: 9 meters
Weapons:
Turret: 1x 150mm gun
2x coaxle blaster cannons
1x twin AA laser cannon
Chassis:1x Twin blaster cannon
Description:
The Streikender SPA has one function only, and that is to provide artillery support for a ground assault. Its design reflects this purpose in every aspect.
Mounted on the turret is a 150mm gun using incidiary, explosive, or solid rounds. Much of the interior of the tank is used to store these projectiles, as the Streikender is intended to support a full day's battle without resupply. Also mounted on the turret are two blaster cannons for forward anti-aircraft fire, coaxle with the main gun. However, they do have some swivel ability. Also on the main turret is a twin anti-aircraft laser cannon on an independent mount; this gun is rear-facing.
The turret itself is mounted to the rear of the main chassis, allowing the long gun to remain over the chassis when firing forward. It is lightly armored, only 2 inches of durasteel and a half inch of titanium alloy protecting it. However, as it is not designed to be in actual combat, the SS and the manufacturers thought that sufficient.
The main chassis is lightly armored as well; however, the lighter weight allows for a bit more speed. It is 20 km/hr faster than the Blitz Panzer, the main SS tank. The two drivers are located in the front of the chassis with the navigator/radio operator slightly to the rear. One twin blaster cannon, manned by the second driver, is the only armament on the chassis itself.
The Streikender has a state-of-the-art sensor system designed to locate enemy forces on a battlefield up to 300 km away. Since its gun has a 150 km range at best, it is unlikely for it not to detect enemy that are in the area. Its sensor system also puts it outside the range of most ground-based jamming systems, so even if the forward observers are being jammed, the Streikender can fire with extraordinary accuracy.
The engine system of the Streikender is a modified version of the system on the Blitz Panzer and the Skorpion GAV. Using a combination of hydrogen and electric power, the engine is completely contained within the chassis. Exhaust is vented through the small gap between the turret and the chassis, allowing the integrity of the chassis to remain intact. Repulsors mounted on the bottom of the tank provide extra speed, lift, and an impressive turning radius, though the latter is rarely used.
