In reality the Stalker-Corvette is nothing more then a heavily upgraded Marauder-Corvette as employed by the Republic. The fact of the matter is that this ship is not actually a new design, but rather a heavily modified version of a stock cruiser.

It was designed to fill a very specific niche in the guilds fleet. It is a stealth recon ship built to spend long whiles in cloak while monitoring a single target ship from as near as possible. There was no intention for it to be an attack vessel and as such sports only eight turbolaser turrets. The beam of the craft was extended an extra five meters, bringing the total length up to 200 meters. A massive powercore was installed and the old outmoded motivators were removed and replaced with a large bank of top sublight/hyperdrive rated engines. The idea being that it could out run danger. The hangar was also heavily modified to accompany a single squadron of TIE-Phantoms, which it can deploy and retrieve in a hurry.

The original sensor package was completely removed and replaced with an incredibly advanced, though problematic, senor package. Designed to be totally uninvasive, it has some of the most advanced passive scanners and close channel analyzers for contact with the trackers(as described below). The nose of the vessel is equipped with two specialized projectile launchers. These launchers are designed to fire a projectile missile with no thrust of its own. The projectile cannot guide itself so the shot must be very accurate. Upon reaching their target the shell breaks up and deploys a number of fairly advanced tracker droids no bigger across then a palm. The projectiles must make direct contact with the hull of the target ship to deploy its' cargo. To this end, the Stalker is equipped with a massive diffuser plate over the nose of the craft, where the launchers are stored. While cloaked the Stalker can slip into the engine wash of the ship it is tracking, take aim and fire. The idea being that the diffuser plates will absorb the signature of the tubes without destabilizing the entire cloak. A tactic that has proven effective in simulation.

The Stalkers stealth takes advantage of a very rare Stygium Crystal cloaking device, as well as a hull designed of composite materials that can absorb and mimic the patterns of countless scanning systems.

The Stalkers' overall performance is rather lacking, but in the area of covert warfare, it excels. The design crew had every intention of making a stealth ship that could move with impunity and not fear detection, and they achieved this goal in spades. It was known from the start that the ship would not be able to stand up in a fight, and to try and combat this the larger engines were built in with the idea of being able to out run any enemy that detected it. Although the TIE-Phantoms' had been intend from the start, they soon found that the Stalker would have to rely heavily on its' fighter support for protection that it could not out run or out hide. The standard crew compliment of the craft, 815, is also its' maximum and minimum running capacity. Save for the starfighter crew and technicians, the Stalker has virtually no room for extra personnel. Luckily, however, each crewman stationed aboard the Stalker is competent soldier.* * * *

((I'm not too sure about the speed ratings or sheild/hull ratings in this context so I'm not sure if that's correct. I can provide RPG stats if needed.))
