Smarts-class Engine Block
You are viewing an old version of this page.
Designation; Smarts-class Engine Block
Length: 700 meters
Height: 300 meters
Width: 250 meters
Armaments: 16 heavy turbolasers; 16 heavy blaster cannons; 16 quad laser cannons; 32 point-defense turrets; 10 heavy tractor beam projectors; 26 medium tractor beam projectors
Introduction:
The Smarts-class Engine Block is designed primarily to propel Core Ships through space. Though Core Ships have their own basic drive systems, they were designed to be carried about by vessels they were attached to, relying on the attached vessel to provide propulsion. With that in mind, Smarts set out to design a dual-role vessel capable of linking with a Core Ship.
Functions:
The Engine Block's primary roll, as stated above, is to move Core Ships from one place to another at tractor beams.
reasonable speeds. It could also double as a large tug, moving incredibly large craft with its powerful
Configuration:
In Smarts' typical fashion, the vessel is completely automated, and contains temporary living space for up to 1000 living beings. The living spaces are adjacent to the port and starboard outer hull, where they are accessible by several docking rings which run across the exterior of the vessel, as well as specialized docking clamps which can adapt to accommodate almost any kind of vessel, including starfighers. Due to this configuration, if the craft ever takes hull damage, it will be the sections designed as living spaces that will go first. The ship has a single small docking bay on its dorsal surface, which is used for accepting any small vessels not capable of docking with the docking rings or clamps. Because of the docking bay's location, vessels are forced to take off and land vertically. Large armored doors can slide closed to protect the docking bay from attack.
In addition to the docking clamps which attach to the inhabitable areas of the ship, there are also several clamps across the surface of the ship that are designed to hold cargo canisters or droid fighters. There is no internal space for fighters, so if the vessel carries any, it will have to do so by means of these clamps. The vessel is not a transport, most of its internal structure being occupied by, reactors, shield generators, and massive engines, but its multiple tractor beams and versatile docking systems allow it to function as such under certain circumstances, if needed.
The vessel has a fairly complex comm system, located on the ventral surface of the craft, which it uses to coordinate large convoys or command any droid fighters it may have.
Physical description:
The Engine Block is basically a massive flying box with engines, wrapped in a layer of tractor beams and assorted defensive weapons. The side opposite the engines is a concave surface, designed to fit a Core Ship. Large antennae and focusing dishes extend from the bottom of the craft.
The RP for this vessel is the second post on this thread:
