Description: The Gestalt-Kashan Hyperlane was mapped and explored by elements of the Gestalt Colonies as well as the Kashan Defence Fleet. This further strengthened the bond between the two groups, introducing more commerce and military traffic between the two groups within the Coalition. However, in order to maintain the route’s security as well as to provide navigation data for the vessels using the route, it was found that space stations would be needed. As such, the Sentry-class Station was hastily designed and produced at KDI using components not only from its warships, but from a variety of existing space stations such as the Telgorn series and the X7 Factory Station. The resulting station, dubbed the Sentry-class, has been strategically deployed at three locations along the route to make the route safe for Coalition shipping.

The Sentry–class Space Station is a conversion of asteroids hollowed out by mining operations and turning them into a multi-purpose space station. In an effort to make it look as much like a typical asteroid as possible, all weapons and external equipment is retractable being covered by doors composed of layers of solid rock from the original asteroid. The massive hangar doors of the station are also covered in a similar fashion. Thus, it appears to be a typical asteroid to sensors and the casual observer.

Construction: The Sentry–class Space Station is based inside a hollowed out asteroid. Because asteroids are unique, each station does not look alike and there are no certain positions for the systems. Asteroid bases are notorious for being structurally unsound. To meet that problem, engineers have heavy strengthened the inside of the asteroid with Ferrocarbon, the same material used in making the structural supports on Coruscant skyscrapers and the Seraph-class cruisers.

The massive hangar doors of the station are also covered in a similar fashion. Thus, it appears to be a typical asteroid to sensors and the casual observer.

Communications / Navigation: Because one of the main purpose of the station is to transmit jump data, the Sentry comes equipped with a long-range hyperwave transceiver that works in a manner similar to the Kashan Integrated Battle Computer, allowing friendly vessels to home in on station as well as sending the vast streams of the encrypted navigational data needed to the authorized vessels using the Gestalt-Kashan Hyperlane. In order to achieve this range, the station utilizes a massive antennae. This is retracted when the base is trying to optimize its stealth capabilities. When the antennae is down, the communication’s range dramatically increases, slowing down vessels on the route as they must now do most of the calculations.

Hangar: Over half the base is dedicated to hangar facilities for the incoming smaller starfighters and transports on the lane as well as its defence complement, which typically is composed of 4 squadrons of mixed Gestalt-Kashan origin. In most cases, the hangars are not fully filled to the capacity. The stats show the maximum that can be packed into the hangar if need be.

Weapons: The Sentry-class carries a mixed amount of weaponry suited for defending the station against enemy starships amongst other weapons. However, as the station’s defence is to not be detected, the weapons on the Sentry are concealed behind a meter thick ferrocarbon blastdoors that appear to be the typical exterior of the asteroid. As a safeguard, the backs of the doors facing the weapons are plated with a thin layer of Neuranium, making them impossible to detect via sensors unless the doors are open.

KDI XIV-7 Heavy Turbolaser: Yet another specifically developed weapon, the XIV-7 design is actually based on the rare SW-APE rifle manufactured decades ago. Like that weapon, it has the Stysor blaster chamber's prismatic crystal housing and galvern pattern, that boosted the static pulse output from the weapon's actuating module for a higher range. When this is combined with the ion sheathing and particle accelerator technology currently employed on the Seraph-class, the weapon has 150% of the range as a standard heavy turbolaser.

KDI L-W4.3 Point-Defence Laser Cannon: The L-W4.3 is the reverse of most KDI weapon technology; instead of working of increased aim, the L-W4.3 is intentionally designed with a very short range. However, it’s bolts are as powerful as those of a heavy laser cannon. In addition, the Dallorian-plated weapon has been fitted with a Merr-Sonn advanced rapid-pulse energy module, giving it a high rate of fire. With it’s small size, the servos have little difficulty in rapidly tracking a fast target, making it an ideal defence against missile attacks.

KDI Starflare-class Missile Tube: The Starflare-class Missile Tube launches hyperspace missiles of the Kashan Fleet. In order to switch warhead types, the Seraph uses a revolving rack of the warheads. To prevent premature detonation, the warhead changing process takes place behind durasteel blast doors aside from the Ultrachrome Hull plating. Also, each warhead is automatically armed only after it leaves the launching tube.

Mine Manufacturing Plant: In an effort to increase the manufacturer of the Wraith-class Pulsemass Mine as well as get the weapons closer for defending the hyperlane, the station has a small manufacturing plant for building the mines. As the stations were rushed to get into production, the manufacturing tech is not from KDI nor is it incredibly high-tech. Instead, it is older equipment from the widespread X7 Factory Station. Not nearly as much room has been devoted to manufacturing mines as on the X7, and as such, the mines are produced primarily on a case-by-case basis as there is little room to store them until they can be deployed. In an effort to keep the factories to continue to produce, many of the mines produced are directly deployed outside the base via the tractor beam projectors, creating dangerous minefields around the station for those ships not allied with the Coalition.
