Explanations

Phalanx Anti-Missile Point Defence Gatling Laser Network

The Phalanx, is made up of a network of small, turreted light blaster cannons. These weapons are very able to pick out missiles and destroy them from long range. The Phalanx System reduces the percentage of successful short-range missile strikes to less than 20%, and long-range attacks to under 5%.

Reactive Shielding

Reactive shielding is a system designed to protect the Messiah from energy weapons. When the vessel’s shields are raised, a special battery bank is charged along with them. Then, when computers detect a substantial bombardment against any section of the vessel, the shield is immediately recharged with stored energy from this bank.

Multi Track Shielding

Multi Track Shielding uses a dedicated targeting computer imbedded in the shielding system to track approaching enemies and calculate approximate damage. The system automatically them distributes shields for maximum damage resistance. Combined with reactive shielding, this system gives the ship an unprecedented edge in battle.

Ion/EMP Protection System

State-of-the art ion and EMP dispersing technology. Imperial engineers became aware that ion cannons and EMP weapons could be devestating against Imperial ships, and set about correcting it.

The solution was to line the inner hull with special ulithium plating, which effectively reduces the damage done by an ion and/or EMP barrage.

XP-32 Illusion Unit

NovaTech XP-32 ‘Illusion’ Unit prevents enemy vessels from achieving an absolute target lock. This means that synchronized enemy fire is greatly reduced, thus causing less damage to the vessel.

The effect of this unit is similar to that of waving your hand in front of a TV screen so all your fingers blur together; you can't tell them apart. Such as it with the Nemesis. Enemy sensors can't distinquish any one vessel from another, and though the gunners can physically see the vessel, it is much more difficult for them to concentrate their fire according to what their sensors tell them.

Background Information

Developed by the Imperial Department of Research and Development, the Nemesis Class Advanced Star Destroyer was intorduced following the evident need of a warship that could shore up the Empire's weaknesses between the Reign and Archangel Class vessels, and the Messiah and Venerator Class of ships.

The Nemesis, unlike the Messiah, is designed entirely to lead the Imperial fleet in battle, and thusly is equipped with the most powerful communications and sensors in the Imperial Navy.

Heavily armed and shielded, the Nemesis focues most of her energies on ship-based weapons, carrying few starfighters or ground troops. Designers indicated that other ships, such as the dedicated Attack Class Carrier Spheres, could be relied on to provide starfighter support to the fleet.

A test bed for new Imperial technological breakthroughs such as the Disruptor Cannons and Proton Torpedo Clusters, the Nemesis promises to be a worthy candidate for fleet command in the near future.
