The Mon Calamari Defiance-Class Hover Unit is the ultimate ground assault vehicle. It features two Particle Cannons, which are capable of firing at ranges of up to 5 kilometers. It also sports 4 Laser Cannons, 2 Proton Torpedo Launchers, and an Anti-Infantry Blaster Cannon.
For defense it wields two shield generators, as well as having a heavily reinforced hull. It utilizes a set of four military-grade repulsorlifts to maneuver, and is capable of achieving speeds of up to 70 km/h.
The Mon Calamari Defiance-Class Hover Unit was designed by the brilliant engineers on Calamari. Midway through the design stage, however, they realized that it was very large, and would not be able to be transported in even their largest vessels. They set to work designing some way to counter this.
It was a young engineer, one who's mind was not clouded by years of experience on what and was not possible. He suggested that several sublight engines be built in.
The older engineers scoffed at his idea, but he went to the designing board anyway, and came up with the design. It featured two sublight engines, not very fast, but enough to transport to and from planets.
He also devised a way of transporting it through hyperspace by means of the High Powered Laser Grappling Claw. This claw extends from the bottom of the Hover Unit to attach itself to a capital ship to be transported through hyperspace. The claw bonds itself tightly to the ship, to ensure maximum safety.
Side Note-Owing to the amount of time it takes for the Hover Unit to extend its claw and grab onto a ship, and to release itself from the ship and retract its claw, the Hover Unit may do nothing else in the post when it attaches or unattaches itself.
R&D Time- 20 Days for ships 1 meter to 400 meters
