- 12 Defensive-Banks (8 fore, 4 aft)
- 20 Dual-Laser Cannon
Weapon Description
Quad Turbolasers - Two cannon mounted on either side of the central turret housing. These batteries are immensely powerful though, as can be expected, have an appreciable recharge rate. However, without power diverted to shields, the weapons can cycle much faster.
Proton Warhead Octets - Four launchers, mounted two above two, on either side of the launch-housing. Proton warheads are more powerful than torpedoes however have no internal guidance systems. They can be programmed to detonate at a specific time, range, proximity, or remote detonated - - or used as standard projectile munitions. Given the size and volatility of the warheads themselves, the launching turrets must be returned to station-keeping in order for the auto-loader to replace its rounds.
Vessel Compliment
x4 Squadrons TIE Defenders
x2 Squadron Scimitar Assault Bombers
x1 Squadron TIE/R Defenders
Embarked Troop Capacity - 13,000 soldiers, fully equipped
Crew - 19,742
Vessel Description/Specification
The Aurora-class Star Destroyer is a Star Destroyer in name only. It is, however, more heavily armed and faster than a heavy cruiser - it is the personification of the battlecruiser. The ASD relies on its speed and strong shielding to defend against attacks, her hull sporting little more than triple-bonded durasteel armor. Without shields, the ship can be torn apart with ease. To ensure against that, a double redundant back-up generator system has been installed, each with its own reactor: should the main fail, these two smaller reactors can power the shields and a few weapons, but not the entire ship.
In appearance the ASD is a Super-Star Destroyer, following the dagger-design. Her aft hull mounts two drive engines on either side; no visible cityspace-superstructure litters the dorsal hull. There is, however, a raised tier just as on other SD variants.
The ASD is a vessel of few amenities but does have quite a few teeth. Her primary power of assault is her proton warhead launchers that can tear apart many ships of equal or larger size. The relatively small number of energy weapons allows more power to be shunted to shields and the massive containment units for the warheads themselves.
