Minelaying Equipment: The Death carries a small minelayer with a capacity for ten standard or five advanced mines. In place of the hangar bay, the mine capacity can be increased to 200 standard or 100 advanced mines.
Probes: In place of the Minelaying equipment the Death can carry up to eight probes with launchers that can send them deep into enemy territory over a period of time, or leave them behind to act as beacons that light up when unknown military warships appear in their immediate scanning area.
Design Specifications: The Death is designed to be a multi-role patrol frigate with a moderate amout of armament and shielding for a ship it's size, along with a hangar bay and racks/pods scattered around the ventral aft area for the installation of speciliazed equipment. The Frigate itself is a rough oval shape, with the Turbolaser Cannons being situated to where 5 can fire to port, 5 to starboard. The warhead launchers are sited one each on the very bow, and stern. The bridge of the frigate also sits on the bow. Near the aft a series of attenaes poke upwards, this being the communications array, similar in appearence although much smaller than that of a N-B Escort Frigate. The Patrol Frigate is just that: a ship that patrols planets or space, that can drop automated warning beacons, or replace lost mines in a minefield, or inspect suspicious activites or ships, and help defend planets against invading fleets.
History Behind the ship: Initially developed by Seinar Fleet systems as a rival frigate to the popular Nebulon-B Escort Frigate, the Death was less popular for it's lack of weaponry, and starfighter complement for a ship it's size. After the NBEF won the rights to be massed produced, Sienar Fleet systems sold the designs of their frigate to private investors, from whence the design is now everywhere.
