-x1 Urkbbian Floating Fortress
Design Purpose – To act as rapid-deployment vessel in either patrol/police functions; as a frigate in a dedicated combat role. In either situation, the Hunter can deploy a small amount of onboard personnel as either ground troops or boarding parties.
Design Explanation
In relation to shielding, the ship is lower than a dedicated combat vessel of comparable size. The elimination of reserve shield generators and heavier primaries has reduced mass needed for dedicated reactors. In the mass reduction, much was re-applied in the form of layered armor plating: where many civil-produced ships layer models in two, a third has been added.
The ventral-bow annex serves as a forward command center as well as home to the ship’s vessel compliment. Also housed there are several defensive armaments as well as the living quarter of the flight operations staff.
The (aft) command section houses the remaining crew quarters, science and communications equipment, and all sensor storage. This is where all central command functions are located, including the bridge. Located centrally in the section’s center is the reactor-pair.
Bow wings have been added to allow in-atmosphere maneuvering, again giving it an edge as a patrol-pursuit ship.
The weaponry of the ship is modestly allotted to allow room for a dedicated power generator giving the ship to continue fighting after ion blasts are fired – only active systems are eliminated. The generator must be manually activated, restoring power to guns. In an emergency, some power can be siphoned off for thrusters, but no major maneuvering or travel is possible.
Internal storage capacity can be either used to hold confiscated goods or converted to (very Spartan) living quarters. This allows an additional 1000 humanoids to be carry, specifically troops.
