Ship Description:
Up and fron the Unity class Battleship is noted for it's bright array of blue spectre colors. This coloring scheme was chosen in rememberance of the Battle of Mon Calamari during the last year and of the hardships the race as a whole have faced while continually giving their support to the Galatic Coalition and to the New Republic and Rebel Alliance before it. This battleship is to represent all species of the Coalition as a whole, and as a result, has a wide vareity of aliens crewing the ship, depending on what their specialty is. The species more attributed to heavy duty fighting in operation the weaponry include Trandoshans, Wookies, and Barabels, while other species noted for excellent use of starfighters include the Gands, who can survive in vaccuum like conditions for an extended period if their starfighters should be wrecked, and Devaronians and Twi'Leks, also speices who have an excellent past serving in fighter command. Moving on from the name of the ship, and it's outward colored design, the ship is designed for deep space engagements against any opponent's who would rise to face it. Moving to engage an enemy capital starship, the battleship would fire off it's proton torpedo tubes forward to weaken the enemy shields, before moving into broadside range with it's rapid fire heavy weaponry designed to whittle away it's shields and hull, while heavier slow firing weapons like the Particle cannon projectors inflict even more damage. Finally, turbolaser batteries at the rear pummel the stricken ship, crippling it's ability to fight back. To protect it from incoming missiles while it is heading torwards an enemy fleet, most of the anti-missile batteries have been concentrated forward to deal with large torpedo and missile volleys. Similarily, protecting it's rear from the threat of enemy starfighters is a large array of anti-starfighter weaponry.
The ship has a large capacity for carrying starfighters, a somewhat similar capacity to the Imperial Star Destroyer as a matter of fact. First, for general engagement purposes, the ship carries four squadrons of MC-10 Starfighters, and to supplement them, and also for intercepting and helping to shoot down enemy missile salvoes, are six squadrons of the fast and nimbe E-78 Swarm Starfighters. Finally, there for the purpose of heavy assault and anti-capital ship missions are two squadrons of Kris Starfighters. No shuttles are embarked upon this ship, as she does not carry any ground troops. In addition to the above stated defence weaponry, the ship also possesses Titanium reinforced hull armour with a high resiliency to both turbolaser and projectile damage, and carries many shields standard on Galatic Coalition warships. In addition, a wide variety of shielding are included. First and foremest are the Particle Shield Generators, these providing most of the power as the turbolaser is the weapon most likely to be used against them, along with enemy missile and torpedo assaults. Helping to protect against Ion Cannon fire and energy based weapons, although at a smaller scale since such weapons are less used than the turbolasers, are banks of Ray and Ion Shields. Finally, rounding out the shielding protection are the standard Pulse shielding suites, used to help deflect enemy torpedo salvoes and other shell weaponry.
Finally, in terms of propulsion, here is where the ship makes it's main sacrafice, being of a speed on par with most star destroyers within the Imperial navy at it's regular base speed. However, the Second Wave Technology has allowed for a substantial speed boost, turning what would be a lumbering hulk of a ship into a ship with decent speed, although no where as fast as the Claymore or Longsword class vessels currently serving with the Coalition navy. The second wave technology does nothing with the hyperdrive rating however, so this is one area in which the Unity is slow in.
