Weapons:
Disruptor Cannons
A weapon developed for the Eternal class Advanced Star Destroyer, Disruptor Cannons are based on the highly illegal blasters common among fringe criminals. Incredibly powerful, they are short range weapons, making them largely unsuitable for ship to ship combat. However, when turned against ground targets, these cannons are devestating, causing massive damage to anything that stands in their way. Their range is limited to two kilometres. Disruptor Cannons are mounted on the bottom of the vessel for use against ground targets.
Gattling Blaster Cannons
Light weapons designed to fire at a rapid rate, they are suited for use against infantry and light vehicles but do little damage to larger vehicles and structures. Blaster cannons are used to cover infantry advances.
Inter-Continental Ballistic Missiles
These missiles are far larger than any convention space-faring device, and are capable of far greater damage. While a Disruptor cannon may issue similar damage to an ICBM, the missiles have the distinct advantadge of being able to strike any target on the planet once launched. Too, they are capable of precise targetting that surpasses even that of the Disruptor. ICBMs can be equipped with a numbe of warheads, including nuclear devices and earth-penetrating 'bunker busters'. ICBMs cannot be fired in space.
Phalanx Anti-Missile Point Defence Gatling Laser Network
The Phalanx, is made up of a network of small, turreted light blaster cannons. These weapons are very able to pick out missiles and destroy them from long range. The Phalanx System reduces the percentage of successful short-range missile strikes to less than 20%, and long-range attacks to under 5%.
Reactive Shielding
Reactive shielding is a system designed to protect the Messiah from energy weapons. When the vessel’s shields are raised, a special battery bank is charged along with them. Then, when computers detect a substantial bombardment against any section of the vessel, the shield is immediately recharged with stored energy from this bank.
Multi Track Shielding
Multi Track Shielding uses a dedicated targeting computer imbedded in the shielding system to track approaching enemies and calculate approximate damage. The system automatically them distributes shields for maximum damage resistance. Combined with reactive shielding, this system gives the Messiah an unprecedented edge in battle.
Background Information
Working on the same body as the Interdictor FSV, the Deliverance is a first for the Empire: a ground deployment and support ship. Although equipped for space combat, the Deliverance is designed to take the fight to the surface, doing massive damage to enemy fortifications in the process.
The DGSV is heavily shielded, allowing it to make planetfall ahead of a fleet of dropships and eliminate anti-air defences with startling ease. The majority of its armour is on its bottom side, leaving it relatively open to assault from the top: however, she mounts most of her turbolasers and anti-starfighter weapons atop her hull to defend against this threat.
The DGSV is not a fast atmospheric ship by any means, but her incredible firepower is more than enough to turn the tide of battle, and she is worth tens of thousands of men in a surface engagement. Her variety of weapons can issue huge damage to targets anywhere on the planet, and her sheer size in atmosphere is oft enough to quell even the most hardened enemy commanders.
When supported by other atmospheric ships such as the Eternal ASD, the Deliverance can be enough to see a world fall before the first troop even reaches the ground.
The DGSV carries seven thousand soldiers and deploys them rapidly by way of a keel launch bay and ropes. With covering fire from the ship's 250 anti-infantry cannons, the DGSV can deliver its entire compliment to the front lines of combat in minutes.
