Nav computer:
Not as such, is connected to CW network via QETS, in order to retrieve jump and navigation data from nearby fleets, capital ships, or bases, saving space. There is a small back-up computer installed in case of emergency.

The Valkyrie carries a sophisticated array of integrated scanners and sensors , which can locate and target weak points in enemy fighters and vessels shields and structures, whilst also jamming enemy communications and baffling targetting locks.


Background:

With the advancements in Commonwealth technology and the need to update the Navy's aging fighter corp, the 'Pegasus project' was born, and after much testing and consultation, the CW Valkyrie is the result.

Utilising the latest in CW innovations, CW scientists were given a simple brief, to come up with a powerful and versatile fighter designed to be just as at home in an atmosphere, as it is in space. One that could go up against the leading current fighters seen and used in many current Naval forces throughout the galaxy. This was no small feat.

At first glance, the Valkyrie does not appear to be anything special, but its only when one takes a closer look at the hardware installed , that this perception changes. This was no coincidence, the Valkyrie is designed to appear straight forward, yet in reality it is anything but.

Streamlined and aerodynamic, this fighter is fast and agile, with a strengthened bonded hull designed to withstand the enormous stresses and strains fighter-craft experience. Even the pilot is spared, thanks to VTech's improved inertia dampening and avionic systems, developed specifically for the Valkyrie itself.
Connected to the wings tips are nacelles which fold out to make full use of the banks of mini-thrusters for added maneuverability during combat in space. The nacelles are folded during atmospheric flight and landing, in order to keep the aerodynamics needed in combat zones with atmospheres.

The Valkyrie takes full advantage of the Commonwealth's latest scientific breakthroughs in a number of ways. The first and most innocuous is its design, or to be more precise, its compact engineering. By removing the need for heavy, and space-hogging onboard internal power generators , the designers were able to generate more space with which to add more sophisticated hardware, relying instead on the SFA power system, delivered by the onboard QET system.

The result of which is a more advanced , versatile all round attack fighter.


Two key advancements:

1) Hard Light Emitter. (HLE)

Internally hidden from sight, the hard light emitter can be utilised as all CW emitters can be, and in the Valkyrie it is no exception. Much like the Hard Light Soldier, the HLE can project a hard light wingman , an entire fighter, flown and controlled by an independent HL persona, to fly alongside its real-life counterpart.

The advantages to this are many, but the biggest is the HL can effectively watch the real-life pilot's back, as he performs his orders. The HL fighter can even engage with other enemy fighters, and as with all HL holograms, it can fire controlled focused beams of light (lasers) ,powerful enough to destroy. The ability to confuse the enemy should not be misunderestimated either, a HL fighter can effectively materialise anywhere, as well as change its holographical status (typical to atypical) in order to baffle and damn well infuriate the aggressor.

It can also soak up enemy fire, as standard weapons do not affect HL holograms, which can be of tremendous value when looking out for its real-life counterpart.

This is all it can do , however, as it cannot launch missiles (aside from HL 'dummy' versions of course) or ion energy.

One other key area where the onboard persona or HLH might be of use, is to take over piloting in an emergency situation, eg: when the human pilot has been incapacitated in some way, or is unable to control the fighter anymore, the persona or HLH can assert full control.
However, the HL persona normally can only control one fighter at a time, flying two (both the real fighter, and its HL counterpart) although in theory possible would assert a great strain on the onboard processing systems, and would not be recommended.

This option can be overridden in the highly unlikely case of abuse or malfunction.



2) Neural link, (NLI)

The second most important technology open to CW fighter pilots is the Neural link control. A trained pilot is essentially neurologically linked to his fighter craft, with simple mental commands, a pilot can fly without the hindrance of normal manual controls.

The advantage given to this method of flying is straight forward, yet its importance cannot be stressed enough. Reaction time.

A Neural linked fighter flown by a trained CW pilot this way, can react up to almost an entire second faster compared to those who pilot using the standard manual controls. This gives all CW fighters flown by this method a valuable edge.

Another interesting advantage using this kind of control, is once the pilot is 'paired' with his craft, he can effectively prep the fighter for take-off before even setting foot in the cockpit, receiving data update s and status reports via his neural link, speeding up preparation time, all remotely.

HL Holographical displays can be projected by a small internal HL emitter inside the cockpit if the pilot feels he needs to use manual control for any reason. Holographical H.U.D's can also be activated, providing real time data analysis.

3) Ion shield.
This shield was developed by CW scientists to combat the growing threat of nanite, or nanobot technology, after a small charge, the pulse generator creates a protective bubble of Ionic energy, weak enough to not interfere with the crafts own systems, yet strong enough to render any nanites inert. Due to the sensitive nature of missiles and torpedos, it is advisable not to fire these whilst activating this shield. A fail safe is onboard to ensure this does not happen by accident, (though this can be over-run should the pilot feel suicidal enough).
