The HLH Persona and the Bio-Chip.
The Bio Chip, otherwise known as the persona chip, can be installed anywhere, in pretty much anything, Its typical application is usually in some kind of wristband, but this is by no means the only way. Thanks to huge advances by CW scientists in the areas of minaturisation and nano-engineering the Bio-Chip, and its recorded Persona can be installed in ships, as back-up advisors , military personel, technicians, or medical personel, weapons, back-up Pilots, talking alarm clocks, toasters, or even inside living people themselves...(etc) the possibilities are endless.
After being 'scanned' a real person can 'back themselves up' onto a Bio-Chip.
Using complex computer algorythms the chip itself is a 'record' of an entire person, not just what they look like or how they talk but also down to their actual mannerisms and actual memories, (at the time of recording). A perfect simulation of the real thing.
Whilst this in itself is groundbreaking enough, its real value lies when it is partnered with HLH systems. Using the information stored on the bio-chip the HLHS can simulate the 'persona' held on the chip, and project their 'Holographic persona' or version of themselves for a myriad of practical applications. The effect is nothing short of stunning, the 'copied' persona is in every way identical to its original 'copy'.
The Scanning process:
The HL-scanners used come in various guises, and can effectively 'scan' anything, without harm to the subject, or indeed the subject even being aware they are being scanned. They can be large industrial scale , or small and handheld, for more mobile applications. Sending a burst of complex sensor readings back to the scanning unit itself, and recording straight to the bio-chip, depending on the size of the subject, a full scan could be completed in mere seconds.
At this moment in time civilians do not have access to this technology.
Transmission / Projection. Hard Light Emitter (HLE):
Without a HL emitter, Holographic projection of any kind is impossible, and due to miracle of minaturisation, emitters can be engineered to suit all types of roles and sizes, they can be installed upon ships, (inside and out), on wristbands (such as the CW Synergy-Band), the possibilities are endless.
Physical limitations:The range of any given emitter depends on the emitter itself (of course), though when used in conjunction with the CW's QET system the range of an emitter is effectively endless, as its transmitting information can simply be broadcasted digitally, anywhere.
'Isotope 37'
HLH Projection would not be possible if it were not for the discovered radioactive Isotope , known simply as 'Isotope 37'. A synthesised isotope which generates a form of sub-atomic energy which is then projected by the transmitter which under the proper condtitions has the ability to be manipulated to change its state, on an sub-atomic level, from its natural radioactive state, into light, and ultimately a form of physical matter. It is the transmitter/ projector itself which performs this manipulation.
Whilst normal holographic projection made from pure light is limited to physical bodies or obstacles, HL projection is not. Due to Isotope 37's powerful penetrating nature , a HL emitter does not need a clean line of sight in order to project.
Simply put while a HL signal is not stopped by the usual physical obstacles, eg:Thick forest, buildings, metal armour, rock, even particle / ray shielding. Depending on the thickness of the obstacle and the range of the emitter, even Isotope 37 has its limits. In extreme cases distortion of the signal, time / data delay can and will occurr.
Practical uses are so diverse that to list them all would be pointless, and far too exhaustive, so I shall focus on only a few specific roles for the sake of example.
The HLH Soldier
The HLH soldier is a innovative new type of soldier, and a very pragmatic use of the HLH system, and it comes in two forms, (or two personas if you will)
1) Default Persona - The standard HLH Soldier , (based on a scanned persona of a talented soldier / personnel who was deemed suitable for whichever role they are needed in).
2) Doppleganger persona - This would be the persona of an actual real living person, perhaps a fallen soldier, who had been scanned prior to his death, and whose 'bio-chip' would be installed into the wristband of a fellow comrade, to aide as his comrade's 'partner'
(all military & Naval personel are scanned as standard) .
The digital persona is kept in a safe location, and copies can be made, and even updated on the fly, if a copied persona chooses.
So that the average 'live' soldier can differentiate between a real soldier and a HLH at a glance, the HL persona is depicted with a bright blue shoulder pad on his uniform.
Benefits:
There are many benefits avaliable to a HLH / Bio-chip persona, not only does his own knowledge and experience survive intact , but he has the added bonus of being able to seamlessly access and assimilate other forms of digital data and interface with CW (and even 'alien computer systems). This has obvious advantages, they can instantly calculate targetting data, keep in constant 'streaming' contact with ships , bases, or 'command' on the fly, or at an interval which suits them.
Examples: Calculating targetting distances by relaying with and assimilating telemetric data from orbiting ships, or accessing CW QETS networks or archives for various qeuries, communicate long distance by patching or accessing long range communications arrays.
The most obvious benefit of being a holographic persona is the ability to stay alive, there is very little which can affect a hard light holographic person, and they can perform under conditions normally under abnormal conditions where a normal living being would not be able to, ie: Starship repairs in vaccum.
A holographic persona does not need food, water, or air, and cannot even be killed by energy or projectile weapons( though of course if they are in Atypical mode (HLH status) then they can be physcially affected by a bullets or shells, but not actually harmed in any way--eg: thrown back by a shell).
Controls:
Every persona has control over how they can come 'online' or 'offline', though of course should this be necessary, it can be overridden in emergencies.
The persona also has the ability to 'change' their holographic status at will, and on command, there are two modes.
1) Typical Mode - Normal holographic status, this means they cannot touch or interact physically with anything or anyone, the standard holographical status. This mode has its benefits in itself, Holograms in this mode cannot be affected physically while in this 'status', and can walk through walls for example. This status has the added benefit of acting as a low power mode, drawing on at least 70% less power , than in atypical (Hard Light) mode.
2) Atypical Mode - Hard Light Holographic Status - This means they can physcially interact with their enviroment, and of course other beings. Whilst in this mode , HLH's can physcially do everything a normal person can do, touch, move, push, pull, fire weapons, use controls, etc...
Instantaneous teleportation
A holographic persona can effectively appear anywhere, anytime they decide, and are only confined to the range of their HLH emitter.
Persona Light / Holographical manipulation
The persona can manipulate and bend its own projection using the HLH emitter for two uses. The first and most obvious being the ability to transform its appearance to virtually anything.
The second is more dangerous; by concentrating a focused beam of intense light the persona can effectively fire a high frequency laser, the power of which is controlled by the persona itself, subtle enough to simply measure or target distances, or intense enough to either kill an enemy or to cut through thick armour. (The power use of which fluctuates depending on the strength used).
Communications / The Neural link (NLI)
A typical HLH persona can use any normal, standard comunication devices, or can directly connect and communicate to the commucation hardware itself.
Another form of communication open to CW citizens, and their HLH persona's is the 'neural-link' , whereby they can communicate directly to any person who has the HLH Neural link (NLI) implant. Communication via this method is instant, even over long distances , and to an outside observer completely undetectable, communication is of course, two way.
This technology, is also used for HL Transmissons utilising the QETS, making the implant wearer able to communicate and interact across vast distances. The neural link can 'simulate' in real time, a HL Persona or 'avatar' of themselves to where the recipient of the message is located, and as long as there are HL emitters , can even interact as if they were truly there in flesh and blood, the neural link works both ways, a user can touch, feel, all in real time, as if they had teleported there themselves.
This form of communication is already used heavily by the ISC, where Councillors and Executors meet to form congress.
While most users utilise a permanent 'implant' procedure, surgically implanting the link into the back of the spine at the base of the head, this is by no means the only method, the neural link can be incorporated into jewellery, for example: an ear ring or necklace.
The CW 'Synergy band'
The synergy band, or "Syn Band / S-Band" as it is commonly referred to is a wristband unit worn by CW people, and used for a myriad of purposes.
Their are two standard forms of the band, though a 'one-off' advanced prototype can be (and on occasion is) used.
Civilian:
The version avaliable for use by the CW's everyday citizens, is slim, form fitting and about the size of the average wristwatch, and can be personalised by the wearer should they wish, using different coloured straps and different faces.
The more practical uses of the band are listed as follows:
1) Citizen level wireless connection to computer databases and standard civilian networks, updating their bands on the latest relevant information and news so the CW citizen is always up to date. (news, games, entertainment, date, time, etc)
2) Holographic projector - Projects standard holographic and atypical touch sensitive HL Holographical displays. The unit , when activated can display a kind of holographical computer screen, (the size of which is set by the user). This can be used to access networks and computer systems, including the holonet. As well as standard holographic images.
3) Standard communication array. Utilising standard subspace and holonetworks , this is in effect the wearer's communication system.
4) Medical monitoring: The unit is 'linked' to the wearer by reading the wearer's physical and mental state, and continues to monitor these, and if the unit detects a problem it can even alert the medical services in an emergency.
5) Transponder system - Once activated , this transmits a standard location beacon, which can be activated by either the wearer, or in an emergency by the relevant authorities. The beacon accesses the ...... networking system and can be traced virtually anywhere. This is the only time this unit can utilise this technology.
6) The band's internal systems are protected from tampering by triggering a self-destruct mechanism which is triggered once the unit detects unauthorised use. This effectively puts the internal unit's systems into 'meltdown', and while does no physical harm to the wearer, utterly destroys the units internal systems, rendering it useless.
This unit itself runs at a very low power level, and is charged at home by either a recharge point at home or by directly connecting the unit to a nearby power source, (utilising low power mode a full charge can last a month).
Military:
The military issue of the 'Syn-band' has access to far more functions, and indeed more can be added to accomodate the nature of the wearer's role, that said a standard military Syn-Band has these functions as standard, it is three times the size of the civilian version, yet still lightweight enough not to be a hindrance.
1) Bio-Chip - Most military issue bands, have a persona attached to them, and act as an advisor to assist the wearer, they can also access and control all systems and functions the unit performs.
2) HL Holographic emitter - Projects standard holographic and atypical HL Holograms, including the persona itself of course.
3) Standard & non-Standard communication array. Utilising standard subspace and holonetworks , this is in effect the wearer's communication system, this version can utilise the QETS as standard. This includes neural linking.
4) Medical monitoring: The unit is 'linked' to the wearer by reading the wearer's physical and mental state, and continues to monitor these, and if the unit detects a problem it can even alert the medical services in an emergency. The attached persona can control and monitor this too. It can even administer a limited amount of pain relief, by direct application.
5) Transponder system - Once activated , this transmits a standard location beacon, which can be activated by either the wearer, or in an emergency by the relevant authorities. The beacon accesses the QETS networking system and can be traced virtually anywhere.
This version also has the option to explode should anyone not being the original wearer decides to tamper with it - In most cases it can and will be controlled by the HLH attached to it, if he / she decides they are in threat, or failing that (should the unit itself be dead, ie: the HLH 'dead') any attempt to open the unit will detonate the self-destruct.
7) Small Sensor / scanner suite: Which includes compact and updated systems such as:
Doppraymagno Scanner, Scanner Jammer (to evade life-form detectors) and a redeisgned Idellian Arrays' ILF-5500 lifeform scanner.
8) Compact personal energy field. instantly activated either by the wearer or the inbuilt persona, (perhaps when sensing a threat when the wearer does not). This force field repels both energy weapons and projectiles. The HL emitter cannot be used when this is activated. Also this is only designed for limited short term use, as it acts as a large power drain (the unit cannot activate the shield and the HL emitter because of this reason) it also releases an energy signature which could potentially be tracked by an enemy.
9) Silent mode: This mode puts the unit into a low power mode, and as a result the persona is put into 'sleep' or 'offline' This is mainly used to avoid energy signature detection by enemy units, or to simply conserve power. The wearer can still communicate with the persona during this, though only by neural-link.
10) the standard projection range of a mobile HLH emitter in the CW Synergy Wristband, is approx 3.5 miles circumference.
The Military issue 'Syn-band' utilising the Bio-Chip has these
Fail safes:
1) ECM / ION shielding / protection. The unit is made from an ultra-light metal alloy which deflects this type of energy.
2) Multiple power reserves:
*The unit is powered by the wearer by neural link or failing
*Can connect to SFA CW power generators via the QETS.
* Versatile- Can utilise solar power in low power mode, enough to keep the HLH 'alive'
(the unit is designed to be able to 'sleep' in case of emergency, to reserve power should the worst still happen)
3)Anti- Scanning technology - The unit is fitted with a jamming device which blocks any attempt to scan the unit with x-ray's or various other forms of sensor scanning, its alloy casing also prevents sensor penetration.
4) The unit can hide its presence or energy signature when in 'silent mode' This is when the HLH (although still very much alive) goes 'offline' . Of course in this mode, the HLH cannot power up, without detection. When in this state it is only capable of communicating via the neural link to avoid detection.
The combined benefits from these innovation are obvious, with only one Hard Light persona attached to a single military soldier or any other military / Naval force can effectively double the size of an army or detachment considerably.
The HLH Persona and the Bio-Chip.
The Bio Chip, otherwise known as the persona chip, can be installed anywhere, in pretty much anything, Its typical application is usually in some kind of wristband, but this is by no means the only way.
