Notes:
*Tightbeam Rentenna Reciever- Recieves transmissions from tightbeam rentennas. Unable to transmit along that frequency. Compatible with the Punisher pocket cruiser, and other ships equiped with tightbeam rentennas.
History/Description: Orginially conceived as one of the new forerunners in a Bothan military resurgence, the Azazel starfighter was to become the fighter of choice for Bothan commanders. Fast, well armed, the craft was well suited for use on Bothan Assualt Cruisers and would round out totally Bothan built task forces.
The Azazel line was started and large scale production was in full swing when the Amaer Kre'Fey regime collapsed in a typical Bothan fashion. The newer regime, idealgically opposed to the expansionist, millitaristic government which proceeded it, slowed Bothan military expansion and began to recoup costs from the period by selling technical plans and technology to the highest bidder, allowing the government to recover any losses, and help to pay to mainatain the expanded military.
The Azazel fighter's plans were sold in a private auction to the major shipbuilding subsidiary of Belgardi Ltd for an undisclosed sum. Starblaze and Belgardi executives saw both practical and commercial uses for the design: the fighter could be used by Belgardi's privately funded defense forces, as well as sold to numerous interested parties to whom and advanced starfighter would be highly valuable.
This decision being made, in a cost cutting and practical measure, a slight variant of the Azazel was designated to be the Belgardi only version of the craft. Dubbed the Cerebrus Tactical Interceptor, the craft is built on the same chasis, employs the same weapons, sensor and life support package. It does however contain a few minor differences. The Cerebrus doesn't contain a hyperdrive, or the 4x-Phantom Sensor Jammer, which allows it to have an increased speed and slighlty boosted shields, and a tighbeam rentenna reciever, which allows it to recieve transmissions from Punisher Pocket crusiers and other Starblaze ships equiped with tightbeam rentennas. The Cerebrus's design changes come as a part of its altered mission as a defensive fighter, rather than the assualt weapon that is the Azazel.
Both fighters are slated for mass production. The Cerebrus is projected to become the workhorse fighter in defensive roles around Belgardi planets, replacing other more offensive models like the HLAF-500, currently in use.
