Description – The blade is the first large ship class the sojourn have ever build and was designed alongside the Aurora class interceptor designed specifically to be used in concert with it in fact. Both as well were based off of unused Kashan designs that never quite made it through the selection process meaning much of the desing work was already done. While the aurora is an interceptor designed to kill starfighters, the blade is true and simply a capital ship killer. Armed will 2 beam cannon arrays 16 heavy turbolaser batteries and 6 heavy ion cannon batteries it is indeed a formidable foe in a ship on ship battle.
Shields and Armor - The blade besides being built for weapon fire power was also built to be a resilient ship in battle. Sporting a first shield generator that is in itself heavier or more resilient than others, but a second shield generator also is present that takes over in the case of a shield failure. Used by the confederation its ally this system is the same that is used on confederation ships as well, giving it considerable durability in battle.
Weapons – The Blade sports extremely heavy weapons sacrificing some speed to gain this firepower. First are two of the new CCA III-5 Lance Cannon Arrays which are the younger cousin of the first operational lance cannons used on the fox. Then complementing this in a more conventional manner are 16 heavier turbolaser batteries and 6 heavy ion cannon batteries each equipped with mag-lev turrets for extremely fast tracking of targets. Lastly are the proton torpedo launchers that provide at least some cover besides what the Aurora already provides.
Integrated Intelligence Quartet – This is similar to the to the intelligence used on the Aurora except for the fact that this intelligence is instead not 1 but 4 Sojourn intelligences that ware hardwired into the ship itself. Each of these sojourn can and do use the processing power of the ship to increase the thinking power and capabilities of each sojourn mind significantly.
Each of these intelligences monitors and controls different parts of the ship although each does a set of checks and error fixing on each others work providing for an almost fail-proof system. Their control over systems and ability to monitor and use these systems without sojourn intervention allowing them to dramatically decrease troop requirements of the ship.
