Description:

The Tri-Wing starfighter, or T-wing for short, is designed as the next generation of space superiority starfighter that could serve as a convoy escort or deploy as relief to systems under siege without needing a capital ship as a transport. The starfighter is built around a central fuselage, with three wings protruding, that when looked at from the front or back, form a triangle shape from the main fuselage. The wings are covered with durasteel plates but are hollow on the inside, and in there they contain the batteries which stores the energy the small drive core produces that isn't immediatley used. These batteries are often stored up when cruising, then are drained during combat.

Mounted on the ends of the wings are the shafts that contain the main weapons and the drive engines. Each wing contains one heavy laser cannon, and one ion sublight engine, with the sublight engine being vector thrust capable, or in other words, can be rotated to point up, down, left, or right, which, combined with the other two engines, gives the starfighter an unparalled edge in manueverability, particulary in an atmospheric enviorement.

Besides the wing, the rear part of the fuselage plays host to a small autoblaster cannon that is configured to automatically target and eliminate hostile torpedoes that are approaching the starfighter from the rear. While these cannons are good at taking out enemy warheads, their lower power settings means that the cannons would have an extremley difficult time eliminating enemy starfighters. The central part of the fuselage contains the drive core, the hyperdrive motivator, and the shield projector. Finally the forward section of the fuselage contains the cockpit, with two seats, one in front of the other, containing the pilot and the gunner. Below the cockpit forward is where the sensors and communications are located, while just under the reat seat is a storage compartment containing the consumables on which the crew would sustain themselves.

The T-wing class starfighter's heavy laser cannons can be single linked or fired all at the same time. This ship is designed to engage and eliminate enemy starfighters and small shuttles, which is about all it can take on without any hard hitting weapons, such as concussion missiles or proton torpedoes, such as you might find in other starfighters.
