The Starstreaker class economy cruiser is designed as a no frills no worries no high tech, just cheap and easy to use cruiser for operations by any number of potential clients. Planetery goverments can use them to patrol their starlanes and chase illegals all over the place. Empires can use them as emergency response vessels in case of a crisis. Militaries can use them to interdict enemy shipping and to launch hit and fade strikes against enemy targets. Should the ship fall into, let's call it, less legitimate hands, it's a useful raider and plunderer.
The cruiser is made with it being cheap and easy to construct in mind. The ship comes in pre-fabricated sections, the main hull coming in two parts, top and bottom, where it is joined at the centerline. The engines and bridge sections come seperatley. The ship has a very basic layout. Firstly, the bow has a lot of cargo room, and also contains some weaponry as well. Working back, amidships top part contains the bridge. Immediatley below the bridge is a hangar bay with two openings, one on each side, where the ship's starfighters and shuttles are located. Below the hangar bay is the fusion reactor core that powers the ship and it's functions. Below the power core are the engines. In the after part of the ship is located the crew and passenger quarters, as well as the mess hall and briefing room. The shields are located behind the bridge, along with the sensors and communications equipment.
The weaponry on this ship is purely anti-captial ship, with the warship's intended defence being it's starfighter screen. There are twelve heavy turbolaser batteries scatted along the length of the ship, two side by side, with two in the bows, eight amidships, and two in the stern. Firing arcs are six in any direction, with eight if firing at a target above or below the ship. In addition, the warship contains ten general purpose warhead launchers, in two clusters of five tubes each. Any kind of a missile or warhead can be fitted or the tubes can be modified to fit, and up to ten warheads can be carried for a tube.
Propulsion is standard for a warship this size, with basic sublight engines and a standard military hyperdrive. Protection is also standard. The Starstreaker may not be able to compete with high tech warship adversaries, but for those who need a cheap ship built in a hurry, this warship will fit their bill perfectley.
