The smallest craft to come out of Mandalore Technologies, the Guild Class Corvette fills the fleets support role as light support and fast attack corvette.
Designed specifically to work in tandem with the Guild Class Gunship, the Corvette was specially designed to spend long durations under cloak (similar to the Cruiser) and shadow the larger Gunship. As a pair, the Gunship and Corvette serve excellently on their own but best function in operations where other Guild ships are involved.
The keel of the Corvette is a total of 80 meters long, twenty meters smaller then the Gunship but, shaped nearly identical to the larger ship. Its hull is matte black, as with the Gunships, coated in a layer of Mandalorian Iron. Both boast very stern keels and thick bulkheads, adding to the very redundant nature of the iron. As such they are capable of taking a beating and keeping functional. In fact, both rely more on hull resiliency then shields (which are under-powered on both)
It's primary armament comes in the form of two heavy ion cannons mounted in the forward mandibles (resulting in limited firing arcs) and two concussion missile platforms which rest directly below the barrels of the ion cannons. One turbolaser turret, mounted near the rear of the ventral surface, provides the craft's only point defense. Designed to attack large freighters, transports and capital scale ships, the Corvette does not fare well against starfighters (conversely, the Gunship does).
Heavy engines power the ship, running almost entirely off the exhaust from the cloaking device (saving on sublight motivators). Combined with the a sturdy keel, the Corvette is able to preform very swiftly as an attack ship.
In summary: The Corvette fills a vital roll in the Guild fleet. It can function as a tag ship for larger confrontations, as a front-line attack ship in guerilla and covert operations, and as a tactical command when need be. Also able to ferry delicate materials from one place to another, the Corvette fills the roll of armed transport for the Guild.
