Usage
¤ The Sentry is a designated system/sector patrol defense and law enforcement craft, dually able to perform law enforcement as well as engage in offensive maneuvers. It is designed to compliment the Vigil-class SPC.
Protection Systems
¤ The Sentry follows after the Vigil with its thick hull and heavy-duty shielding systems.
Sensor Array
¤ For advanced ship detection, the Sentry is equipped with two Advanced Sensor dishes. Each dish is equipped with two back-end computers, which are programmed to decode and attempt to interpret what every special disturbance might be. Results in a 30% larger detection range, and a 20% faster detection rate.
Advanced Targeting Computer
¤ An Advanced-targeting computer aids in pinpoint locational damage for crippling the target quickly. It assists in guiding all weapons, at the gunner's option. The ability to perform flight vector prediction, aiding the gunner in 'leading' fast moving targets, has been added for the Sentry
Engines
¤ The Sentry's engine setup follows after that of the popular Skipray Blastboat. Each engine is placed on a “wing”, which equates to extremely high maneuvering speed for a ship of this size. The wings on the Sentry are more streamlined and laid back than aboard its predecessor the Vigil They are also arrayed in dual 'stacks' for a more streamlined appearance.
Boarding
¤ The Sentry is equipped with a specialized boarding apparatus that is arranged on the bottom of the ship. Once an enemy craft has been disabled, the Sentry flanks it, and extends twelve docking clamps and a boarding tube. Once the boarding tube is attached the hull is breached. Troops are then able to ferry themselves between ships via the tube without the inconvenience of a vacuum suite. A dual airlock equipped with double-thick doors is in place aboard the Sentry to prevent the possibility of enemy crewmen from storming the Sentry, or from the breaching apparatus from puncturing the hull of its host craft. Before the boarding tube is retracted, a portable magnetic screen is set up inside the boarded craft to prevent atmospheric leakage.
Shadow Paint
¤ “Shadow Paint” is the nickname given to the unique paint that all Republic vehicles will be treated with. The paint absorbs 95% of all light, utterly defusing it. This makes it impossible to see the ship with the naked eye in space, and it is extremely disorienting to any viewer when the ship lands on a planet.
Conclusion
¤ The Sentry is a fast-attack flanking craft designed to work in tandem with the Vigil-class SPC. Its oversized engines allow it to outrun all but the nimblest of craft. Once the target is disabled, the Sentry will breech the hull, and secure the craft from the inside.
