The Assault Frigate is a modified version of the Dreadnaught, which has traded armor for speed, though the amount of speed is not actually known. It is more heavily armed than the Dreadnaught, and requires a substantially smaller crew. Most of the internal structure was exposed to space, and the docking bay was removed, but the Assault Frigate is equipped with 20 docking rings, like those on the Nebulon-B Frigate, and it also carries a modified //Gamma//-class assault shuttle on its back, which it can carry through hyperspace.
An Assault Frigate Mark II was produced, but the production line failed, while the Mark I remained in production.
