TRF History: Eregion for decades served as a penal colony, first under the Galactic Empire, and then fell into Warlord Blissex’s hands. She had her political dissidents, critics, and threats from her dominion thrown into Eregion’s primitive mines, digging up minerals and breaking rocks; it was a work camp. The planet also served as a staging point for Blissex’s navy because of its remoteness and proximity to her border. Eventually, one of Blissex’s ships attacked and captured Soroyan merchant vessel, prompting the Confederation to try and free the crew. In a combination of special forces and naval might, the Confederation captured Eregion and freed its prisoners, most of whom became Confederation citizens and traveled to other worlds. Currently, there are only a few political dissidents from other worlds who the Confederation has settled on the world, along with a few entrepreneurs and their workers who have taken advantage of the ridiculously cheap land.
Role in the Contegorian Confederation: Eregion serves as a minor mining planet as it always has. The Confederation has also constructed several automated factories which produce materials which could be considered hazardous to produce on populate worlds, such as hyperbarides. The civilian populace provides small numbers and goods to various other Western Expanse worlds near the area. It is also used as an outpost and staging point by the Confederation fleet.
