It was beautiful, what they had growing in the tank, and will be worth the long wait. The scientists in the Sykir Clan have been working hard on this project for over three years, but it was really only the past few months the real work could have been started. It was the first time any Trandoshan scientist attempted such a project and the Sykir had to swallow their pride and hire some of the best geneticists and cloning scientists in the galaxy to get to this point. Of course those they hired would never live to see the final product, as they couldn't risk having the project discovered by outsiders, especially by supporters of this....disgusting new direction their people were taking. If all went well, the result of their work will be the leader of a counter revolution, to set things back to the way they were.

Thus the project was so important that they didn't dare start the main phase of it in their Clan headquarters within Hsskhor itself. Instead, they chose a little known town that was well north of the Capital city, one that had a higher then normal population of Trandoshans that didn't like the new mindset. The townsfolk had quickly agreed to allow them to set up their project within their borders and with these supporters watching their back they could work on the project without worry. As an extra precaution, they didn't throw their Clan name around and bribed the ones that did know it into silence: if one thing could be absolutely guaranteed it was that credits always made a Trandoshan sit up and listen. It was here they started to grow their subject.

They couldn't realistically start growing their subject until after the last 'donor' had died, knowing the dangerous Trandoshan would not have taken kindly to having his genetic code tinkered with, even if it was being fused with his one time idol. The genetic material from both donors had been obtained years ago, when the idea for this project first came into fruitation. It had been difficult to get sufficient samples: the professor that had started the project, who had been assassinated during the revolution, had to resort to trickery to obtain them. Thankfully neither donor had grown to suspect anything, otherwise the professor would have been killed a lot sooner and they wouldn't have the fruits of their labor growing in the tank.

The growing subject was male, and currently only about the size of a ten year old child, but will eventually be the tall as the tallest of the two donors and be as strong, if not stronger, then either of them. The coloration of this creation was an interesting mixture of both donor's scale coloration: the spines of his head crest, shoulders, forearms, and lower legs were a deep crimson, while the rest of him was a viberant, firy orange. Eye coloration was still unknown as the subjects eyes will be closed for some time to come. They hoped the subject will have one donor's intelligence and cunning, the furiousity and savagery of the other, and the fighting ability of both: in short, they hoped this will be the ultimate Trandoshan.

But there was months of work yet to do. The subject needed to finish growing and certain....modifications needed to be made after full size is achieved. Plus whether or not the talents of the two donor's was retained within their genetic samples and transferred to the subject will be in question: they had taken the precaution of including the appropriate genes for fast learning they picked up from the Kimonians in case full training will be needed. There was also the worry deformities could appear, even at this late stage of growth.

The next few months will be tense ones indeed....

Slaskia posts:

“Sir!” The Sykar professor looked up at his subordinate with a look of annoyance.

“What is it?” He said harshly: he had been looking at reports on the latest progress with their project, so what ever it is that the man thinks is critical enough to interrupt him had better be good.

“Miknak is dead.” The subordinate said grimly.

The professor snorted. “It was only a matter of time before the Seren’s got him. His death has little impact on our own goals.”

“Are you not worried that with Miknak out of the picture the government may start looking more closely at our activities?”

Another snort. “Boy were you hatched with no brain?” He said. “Our Clan has prided itself with keeping ‘controversial’ projects from being discovered for generations and it is no different now. They will not uncover us before the subject is ready for his purpose.”

“There is a lot of work left to do on him though….”

“Yes…certain tests will need to be performed to determine what he genetically remembers, enhancements applied and an inhibiter will need to be installed to ensure he doesn’t turn on us.”

“An inhibiter? But both DNA donors were allies to us in life sir….”

“I am not one to take the chance.” The professor said. “I want certainty, not assumptions.” He paused in reflection. “The subject will be fully grown by the end of the week, so start the preparations with the nanotech and other enhancements.”

“Yes sir.”

After the subordinate had left he returned to the reports, smiling at the growth progress of their subject. Soon we will establish a new homeworld He thought with a grin. And he will be the key to wiping out the old homeworld…along with all the soft minded blasphemers….
