The books aren't official (Reasons)

These are a few reasons why the books aren't official:

1)Anakin uses the Darkside when he is 13

2)The plant life on the planet Ithor is wiped out

3)The planet Sernpidal is crushed by its moon

4)Another ice planet is blown up

5)The Yuuzhan Vong, a very unbelievable species (No offence) is created.

As long as LFL approves them, they're official. If God (George Lucas) says something is incorrect in the books, it is so.

He actually said that he didn't endorse most of them as part of the SW official storyline, which is what I meant, but you are right.

George Lucas is a nitwit. The SW books are far better than anything that hack can cough up. He's so far past his prime, he can't remember what it looked like when he passed it. Ep1 is just an example of this- kiddified crap that bit so hard you had to bring disinfectant when you watched it.

If he's smart, he'll accept them as what they are- brilliant continuations of a story he created.

If not, he'll continue being the moronic ass he's being right now.

EDIT: And correct me if I'm wrong, but did the people who have built the EU not create Carida and Sernpidal?

Quite probably. No, wait, of course they must have been. Anything not mentioned in the movies must have been created in the EU. It is very stupid to disregard most of it, but he does have a point. Some of the more recent stories have gotten a little... carried away.

And I agree that God is getting worse. I mean, consider the title of EpII: Attack Of The Clones. A writer's block, perhaps?

It's awful...

And I don't think they're getting carried away, at all. Every book needs a seemingly invincible menace, and watching Rebels Vs. Empire was getting boring.

The books... they are for reading entertainment. Nothing more.

The title of the new movie... Don't dis it. It's just as back as "The Empire Strikes Back". They both are simplistic and to the point, giving the over all idea of the story (or in this case, part of the story) being told. Empire Strikes Back tells of the Empire attacking the Rebels in retaliation for the attack against the Death Star. Attack of the Clones is just gonna be the start of the Clone wars, where Clones attack... duh! :p

As for the whole kiddyness of the TPM... Well, Lucas did create Star Wars with Kids being his target audience. When we first saw SW: Origional Trilogy, we were all (most of us) were just but ye lads and lasses. It's just that those movies grew on us and seem like "adult" movies only because your an adult. It still had a PG rating. *rambles*

And they aren't half as entertaining when Satan (George Lucas) keeps popping up behind you and yelling "IT'S NOT THE REAL STORYLINE!"

You miss the point. Attack Of the Clones sounds like a bloody horror flick from 1950, while T.E.S.B. sounds cool and futuristic.

Snack... drugs are bad, man.

I don't care. Was it a kiddy movie? No. Did it have a floppy eared character who talks like Daffy Duck on morphene? No. It was a serious, awsome movie, which drew on such various sources as Kurosawa (I still can't spell it) and ancient Chinese/Japanese beliefs.

PG means a kid can see it- it doesn't mean it's meant for them, or that they'll like it. There's nothing that a kid shouldn't be reading in Great Expecations, but I'll be damned if a seven year old can read it. And ask any adult- including really old people like my father- Star Wars is great to them, even now.

Beat dat! ;)

With pleasure. ;)

Lucas is with you when you read them, peering over your shoulder sporadically shouting that? Can you get his autograph for me, please? Seriously though, so what if they aren't cannon? They're just books.

You miss my point as well. Both are titles. TESB also went through the same grife as AOTC is going through now, if I am not mistaking. They are simple yet effective in getting the "main point of the chapter" across.

Then quit selling them to me! >:

Did he aim the origionals at kids? Yes. Maybe it wasn't a kiddy movie as we think of them now, but it was still targetted at the younger population. Lucas has even said so himself. Was TPM a serious movie? Aside from the horrid acting of Ani and Jar Jar, yes it was. I still see myself laughing everytime I watch the OT during different parts, especially with Chewwie being a big scaredie cat in ANH. I'm sure that was aimed for kids. A big beast with the power of a lot being afraid of a little garbage creautre. Heh.

I know Star Wars is great to many adults as well. It was a revolutionizing Movie, with special effects never before tested or seen in movies. (I wrote an entire history report on ILM and the special effects in star wars.) Still, though, its "target" population is for kids. Tisn't my fault old people like it as well. :p
