What is this, then?
This, is TRF's foray into themed role-playing forums. A lot of boards do themed forums; actually, just about every other new board that ever advertised on TRF in the Sales Pitch forum had a couple dozen themed RP'ing forums for members to wander in. So we said, if they can do it, we can do it better.

So... what is this?
This is a role-playing forum with an emphasis on casual roleplaying, open stories, and newbie friendliness. Like the Battlegrounds, you are free to do whatever you want here. You can start a serious, character building role-play, or you can just mess around in one of the numerous Café's here on the Astral. Unlike the Battlegrounds, you can't zip all through space, or attack planets, etc. This forum is for RP'ing within the context of a single, enormous space station.

Unlike the Battlegrounds, you are not allowed to mess with the timeline. You can't do deep histories into the existence of the Astral. You can't say your character has been on the Astral forever, and knows all the secrets of this station. For the time being, players are regulated to characters that arrived on the station after it appeared in Vinda-Corp space. This may or may not change, depending on how this goes.

Is there a central story?
There are several stories, each just waiting to be expanded and explored, and one main theme. The central theme is, "An enormous station has appeared smack in the center of one of the most heavily used trade routes in the galaxy, and no one knows what the heck it is or where it came from". Side themes have been and will be dropped by Ayan and Myself at different times. However, these 'quests' will not be emblazoned as such, you will have to read the Role-Plays that are posted here, and figure out the quests yourself.

For example, in No Time for Rumors, these lines were dropped: "And, what about the persistent rumor that there is a Drug Lord using the Astral as his personal hide out?"

"Never happened, doesn't exist. Though, the version I've heard most over here in the J section is that he's a Crime Boss, and that He, is actually a She."
Well, there's a bit of a quest right there. Does the Astral have a resident crime boss? Maybe, maybe not. Maybe you could find out.

It says casual role-playing...
That's right. This forum was created primarily for new people to use to dip their toes into TRF. While there is great opportunity for veteran players to explore the Astral, and create interesting, dynamic RP's (just like in the Battlegrounds), the Staff and Moderators of this forum highly encourage veterans to also participate in the casual role-playing that newbies may start.

Just think, you may even gain a loyal mimic / slave / eunuch , after you guide a newbie from his toddling days in this forum. Yay!

Umm...
Questions? Contact either Ayan or Myself.

In Character information
Check the Glossary for some general IC information about the Astral.

Make your Mark!

Although the main purpose of the glossary is for it to be used as a source for reference in order to help maintain some form of continuity.
It is also there to be expanded upon!

If you have created something which you think fits and adds to the overall 'feel' of the station, and we agree, request an entry here, and we will review and hopefully add it to the glossary itself. Giving you the chance to create something unique which people can refer to.
If you keep to the format we use ourselves within the glossary it would help us.

Facist?

You have a problem with it being in the CS?

Perhaps you'd prefer it to be in Tion-Space, yes?

And who or what is a Berasco?

lol, I would actually, but Id also much prefer it be in unowned territory. Like if an asteroid entered stable orbit over Earth and stuff was discovered inside, dont like a fight of ownership.

Berasco is a nic I send out as messanger for the more unofficial tasks of BDE

Berasco... does he like tobasco?

As for it being in Nuetral Territory, someone would take the planet over and then it wouldn't be in nuetral territory.

Just shut up and like it, Gue. It's not like the thing is a Death Star.

Why?... does it really matter?...

For the record, it was never my idea to put it in the CS, or VC space.

...and even though it is 'in' CS space, its still completely neutral, which means; I don't own it.

Why would you have a problem with it being in VC's territory exactly?, its not like its a superweapon or anything.

*shrugs*

If you had originally thought of this and decided with the staff to have it in BDE's space, I wouldn't have had a problem with it.

I think you're seeing it as if I own it or something, I don't, and VC doesn't have any say in how it is run.

(although obviously VC and the AA now have a business arrangement).

Actually, Heir if BDE wishes to open an embassy or to become involved in it in some way, all one has to do is ask.
