INS EXCLUSIVE:
Empire scores massive victory over rebel government
Multiple Sovereignty worlds surrender

Following a multi-front offensive against the brutal terrorist government known as the "Outer Rim Sovereignty" known in the upper echelons of Imperial High Command as "Maelstrom", a mass-surrender has taken place. The worlds of Ison, Varonat, Varonat Prime, Kal'Shebbol, Abregado-Rae, Tatooine, Af'el, and Khomm have all offered formal surrenders to the Empire on orders from their central government. A ceasefire request was issued shortly thereafter and granted mercifully by the Empire.

The Maelstrom plan, reportedly masterminded by Governor Theren Gevel with assistance from Grand Marshall Simon Kaine and Admiral Bhindi Drayson, and participated in by numerous other top officials, overwhelmed the Sovereignty warships in multiple sectors. Early battle reports show that most of the assaults were on the verge of success.

"They simply gave up," commented Admiral Nokat Quentin Vikar, who commanded the battle in the Varonat system. "Tactically, it was the wisest decision they could have made. The Empire struck swift and fast, and once again has proven itself utterly unstoppable."

A short time ago, Governor Gevel held a short press conference during which he called the surrender a "bold, respectable move". However, a solemn Gevel was unwilling to credit his adversaries beyond this. "The Sovereignty is a rebel group that operates without scruples or mercy. It's a terrorist cartel, essentially; after their attacks against us, to not launch a crippling counter-offensive would have been fucking irresponsible in every sense of the word." He also noted that Imperial forces have been landed on all conquered worlds, and transitional governments have already been set up.

Many analysts have indicated that this surrender may indicate the downfall of the Outer Rim Sovereignty as a galactic superpower. An organization with strong rebel ties, it was already dealing with a stern political backlash across the galaxy as a result of the destruction of Cloud City and Taloraan City during an unsuccessful Sovereignty campaign against several Imperial worlds. According to top Imperial officials, negotiations have already begun to create a permanent surrender treaty, which will likely entail considerable military concessions on the part of ORS.

Gevel, who orchestrated the defense of Cloud City and Taloraan city, ended his conference on an emotional note. "This was a victory for those who died at Taloraan and Bespin. This was a victory for the generations who will prosper under Imperial rule, without the interference of these murderous rebel factions."

The Coalition Response

How they feel about their ally giving up

Upon refrences to "Ties with Terrorists and rebels", the Coalition had no comment at this time. They were also unwilling to comment on the surrenders. Indeed, the Coalition didn't seem willing to say anything. They just sort of sat there and sighed heavily.

(OOC: Good post, Theren!)
