Flight to Dagobah

[FONT=Courier New]Sean leaned back on his chair as his ship flew through hyperspeed, he was on his way to Dagobah which he knew was strong in the Force.
He had heard tales of an ancient Master named Yoda who had lived in exile for years after the Jedi Purge, Sean needed to know whether it was his destiny to become a Jedi or just dreams as his parents had told him before he had left his home world of Tatooine; sighing he stood up and went to his storage department where he kept the lightsaber and crystals that he had found on the planet near Tatooine, he wanted to get it fixed up but as of yet his attempts at repairing it had been futile and he he hoped that Dagobahs' strong Force connections could help him.
He took the saber out and it lifted it aloft examing the shape and texture, it was curved slightly at the bottom and the etchings on the side were of strange symbals of which he had never heard of nor did he know what origin they were of, frowning he carefully put it back in the bin and went back to his seat to keep his eye on the instruments and make sure nothing went wrong; everything seemed to be on the normal side so he leaned back on his chair and closed his eyes while also quieting his mind as he had been taught by the strange man who had left without giving him any more training.
He would not give up on his quest no matter how long it took him and how far it took to get there.

Hyperspace...

Suddenly, the piloting deck was filled with a shrill alarm, and before Sean could react, the entire ship shuddered violently. Now a whole array of warning lights flashed urgently on the control panels in front of him.

With a stomach churning lurch, and a bright flash of white light the vessel's automatic fail-safes kicked in, and the ship entered back into real-space, albeit prematurely.

The Hyperdrive had failed.

Sean checked his sensors and felt a huge sigh of relief, he'd been lucky, all it would've taken was a bit of bad luck and he could've ended up flying into a rogue asteroid or even worse, a planet...

He felt the sub-light engines fire up automatically, as he checked the navi-comp to get his bearings...

Just outside the Corporate Sector..

A frown appeared on his face as he realised how far Dagobah still was...

Checking the local area, he realised he only had one real option, and that was to limp to the nearest place with which to dock and repair...

The frown deepened as the reality of his predicament dawned upon him, without a functioning hyperdrive it could be years before he could even come close to another planet...and then he spotted something...

A space station, not far away, he waited for the navi-comp to calculate its journey time at sub-light speed, and groaned aloud...

Twenty two hours!

He slumped back into his chair a little, understanding he had little choice, and then programmed the new destination. As the navi-comp confirmed and the ship adjusted its course, he peered out of his cockpit window, and found he could just about make out the station in the darkness.

He looked around glumly, and then sighed, resigning himself to the journey...

Dry-dock repair bay of the Astral Astoria..

(Approximately twenty two and-a-half hours later)...

Sat on top of his new freighter, a TransGalMeg Xiytiar-Class transport he'd named 'Outlander' Kullum cursed as he dropped his wrench, causing it to clatter loudly on the colossal docking bay's metal floor. He had been trying to install a new, highly illegal laser cannon, he had just bought off some guy in a bar earlier...

...son of a-- His thoughts were cut short as the large air lock doors opened to reveal a very tired looking ship, being automatically towed into the dry-dock's repair berth, a steady stream of black smoke pouring from it's under belly...

Ouch!...

Kullum couldn't help but let loose a grin as his eyes scanned over the damage, assessing the probable cause, and cost of the repair...

Looks like someone's motivator got fried!...

He clambered down carefully from his own ship to get a better look...

Kullum was a drifter, a smuggler, and a...well, whatever the hell he needed to be to get by...dressed in a simple plain Tee-shirt and rather greasy looking overalls, he reached into his back pocket for a rag to clean his hands with.

As the hatch to the vessel opened , Kullum quickly stifled his grin and let his eyes settle on its exiting incumbent, before raising his voice over the general noise of the repair dock...

"You must be one lucky son of a gun!..." He shouted over to the new arrival...

"let me guess, Hyperdrive failure, right?"

He looked up expectantly...

Sean brushed the hair out of his eyes and climbed out of his nearly destroyed ship and heard someone yell over the noise of the ship, he looked around and saw a man with a grin on his face (possibly a mechanic but he wasnt sure) greeting him.
He could tell the man thought him incombent and it annoyed him but he would be good natured any how.
"Yeah it did, it was fine on my way out so I don't know why it blew."
He held it out ready to shake hands and smiled, "Name's Sean Cloudwalker, may I ask what yours is?" He liked to know everyones name in case he needed to call them for a favor or something like that, he hoped this guy could help him rebuild it.
"I was on my way to Dagobah but that looks far off now."
He shook his head in disgust at how his trip was turning out.

"Yeah it did, it was fine on my way out so I don't know why it blew."

Kullum studied the man before him taking in his appearance, and then winced as he confirmed what he suspected, casting a critical eye across the ship's hull...

As the man stepped forward and offered his hand in greeting, Kullum shook it firmly, perhaps a little too firmly upon reflection, but it did not appear to matter as Kullum listened to the visitor introduce himself...

"Name's Sean Cloudwalker, may I ask what yours is?"

Why?... The spacer thought suddenly, looking furtively around him..

"Kullum" he answered warily, his face slightly suspicious , and listened as the traveller explained where was going..

"I was on my way to Dagobah but that looks far off now."

"Dagobah?" Kullum repeated as he threw Sean a look almost akin to horror...

"Why the frell would you want to go to a dump like that?" he snorted, laughing slightly...

As Sean looked up surprised at this comment, Kullum continued "Ain't nuthin there except fog"

Truth be told, he didn't think Sean was incompetent, but he was beginning to think he was a nut...

Why in the name of Vader would anybody want to go to Dagobah?...

(he thought to himself)

Still...takes all sorts I suppose...

The spacer scratched his head and glanced back at the ship Sean had limped in with...

"Well, you ain't gonna get very far without a hyperdrive...I could take a look for you" He paused for a moment to consider something before adding...

"You hungry? I'm starvin" and grinned, hoping Sean would catch his meaning...

Sean watched as Kullen laughs at him for wanting to go to Dagobah but just shrugs it off , he would probably laugh too since it did sound kinda crzy to want to go there.
"I know how Dagobah is but... I have business there."
When the guy mentioned the hyperdrive was shot he groaned.
"Why did I trust that maniac ship dealer, he was drunk."
He looked up when the man asked if he was hungry and nodded his head.
"Yes I am, I kinda forgot to stock the ship before I left." He looked away sheepishly.

"Why did I trust that maniac ship dealer, he was drunk."

Kullum had not thought Sean crazy, but this comment had started to make him wonder...

After all, who in their right mind would buy anything off a drunk?

It was then Kullum realised that most of his shady business dealings had usually been brokered in some kind of bar or another, and it gave him pause for thought. He'd probably been drunk himself half the time anyway.

In otherwords he wasn't in the position to judge anything in this regard.

Come to think about it he had a nagging sensation that was probably where he'd been going wrong himself all this time.

Still, not even packing the right amount of supplies needed to go on such a long journey, was quite a basic thing to overlook.

It seemed to point that this visitor, was in some kind of hurry.

That and when Sean mentioned he had business dealings on Dagobah, the spacer felt his ears prick up.

Kullum sensed an opportunity presenting itself.

He smiled as congenially as he could...

"I know a place"

Hyperspace Noodles Eatery - Restaurant district

As the pair entered the eatery , Kullum spotted a table and made a bee-line for it. They had made their way through the station, winding through the throngs of people , some hardcore Astorians, some merely businessmen looking to make a quick buck, and others just passing through.

The eatery, although still very much busy inside, was a little less intense than outside, and Kullum found himself not needing to shout over the general murmuring of various conversations.

He gestured to the table, and the chair opposite him.

"Take a seat"

As Sean did so, a droid appeared, and waited to take their order, Kullum ordered something he couldn't pronounce but sounded good, for both of them, and then watched as the droid sped off with the orders...

He leaned back into his chair and seemed to study Sean a moment before speaking..

"So, what kind of business do you have on Dagobah?" He asked, his curiousity piqued.
