Aargau Accepted into League of Nations

Simon Kaine steps off the stage to allow for the Nautolan President Desana to speak as to events on Glee Anselmi and League of Nations current events...

".....and so with the help of Gravlex Med, we should get a handle on revitalizing our plant ecology to self sustaining levels. With the logistical support provided by the Empire, we should be able to feed, clothe and house our population."

President Desana stands a little straighter, proud to be the bearer of some additional good news.

"After successful negotiations by the Supreme Commander of the Imperial Armed Forces, Simon Kaine, with the Commonwealth (located in the heart of the Corporate Sector) before the terrorist attack on our world, the League of Nations has accepted the application from the Commonwealth world of Aargau."

After audience applause a reporter raises a hand.

Does this mean that the Commonwealth itself is a part of the League of Nations and accountable to the LON Charter?

No. The world of Aagau alone has petitioned for admittance and it alone has been given membership. While the League recognizes that Aargau holds it's allegiance to the Commonwealth, we also recognize the desire of Aargau to coexist peacefully with fellow systems Core-ward. We do not feel that there is much difference between the ideology of the Commonwealth and the ideology of the League on the more important aspects of our charter."

Is this a precident?

"Actually, no. Tirhann is a Coalition world and has successfully shown itself to be a nonsupporter of war. Early in our founding meetings, there were envoys from both the Coaltion as well as the Dragons. Unfortunately, all their envoys could do was watch history unfolding as the League of Nations formed for their two societies were at war with each other at the time."

Does this mean the Coalition is prohibited from joining the League?

The President fell silent. "After Glee Anselm, I think their general admission is a little ways off. Still, if they cease any aggressive stances towards League members there is hope. There is always hope. But we have to be sure their interests are our interests."

If the Coalition and Empire go to war...

"In the event of such a tragic circumstance, as long as either government does not attack League member worlds, we will remain neutral in the conflict. The Empire has no member world though technically, Coruscant might be considered one as the LON meets in the Rotunda on a monthly basis. Still, it is only a technicality. If the Empire attacks Tirhann, however, they will be in violation of the League Charter and be considered an act of war. However, if the Coalition attacks or establishes bases on any League of Nations member world as they did on Glee Anselm, it would be considered an act of war against the League."

Are there any more planets petitioning?

"Due to the diplomatic efforts of the Empire and other League Ambassadors, we have received several petitions, the most public being from the world Ukio. We are reviewing their application and setting a time table for their leadership to appear before the League in the Rotunda..."
