So I'm pretty anxious to see how Vista looks. I checked out their site and it looks pretty simple to download and install the final Beta. I'm just a little nervous. From what I've read it's not entirely stable, and I've had enough computer problems lately as it is. I just got a 500 GB external HD last week that I can easily back up all my stuff on beforehand.
Has anybody else tried the Beta? Anyone have opinions on whether I should give it a shot or not?

From what I've learned from Microsoft? Don't get the Beta.
Hell, don't get the freaking RETAIL release for at least a year. That is if you don't like seeing lots of blue screens of death.

I can't hold out on the release. I need that DirectX 10 for when I build my new rig next year.
I suppose I don't need to risk the beta just to see some 3Dness though.

If you're willing to go through reinstalling later, yeah, go ahead. If you have an empty partition around try a dual-boot instead. That way you get the best of both worlds.
Using Vista now will probably yeild a little excitement for the new windows 'bling', but disapointment in application stability.
