Won a game of Star Wars Rebellion. On easy, using the medium sized galaxy, with capture headquarters only victory. It took me to day number 3,350 or so to win. The fleet I sent to assault Selonia consisted of a Death Star, a Executor Super Star Destroyer, an Imperial Star Destroyer, about 9 galleons of various types, and about 15 carrack cruisers and lancer frigates. I didn't even know it was the capital planet. I just intended to blow it up and capture the rest of the Corellian system.

The Death Star is a huge waste of resources.
Firing it cost me a game once, turned like 15 systems over to the Rebellion.
Best just to use the Executor as a command ship, and skip the Death Star in favor of more light cruisers.
BTW, ever play a human?

Nope, not a human. Probaly not until I get much better. I found that a good taskforce that worked consisted of an Executor and two ISD IIs as the main beef, backed up by six Lancer class Frigates to take care of the starfighters. Also an Interdictor cruiser to ensure that they didn't escape. Using one such taskforce I raided about 25 Rebel held systems, shelling any planet that didn't have shields. I destroyed something like 120 mines and refineries, plus some CYs, and SYs. Plus I killed something like 10 A-wings at each planet, regardless of whether or not it had a shield.
By the end of the game I had constructed something like three Executor SSDs, with one being destroyed, one in my main offensive taskforce, and one defending Coruscant, along with about 10 ISDs, and 50 support ships or so.

I must say Kraken, that you have never done anything on Rebellion if you haven't played an opponent.
Good Ole Tractha and I have a game still saved on a LAN, with over 20,000 days and no winner.
*Just a note* Playing as against the computer is easier as the Alliance, due to the fact coruscant cant move and the computer never moves palpatine from scant.
Playing as the Empire is slightly harder, but its made up for by the Imperial ships.*
O and Kraken, try beating it on a large galaxy standard game.
I used to do that all the time. :smokin

http://www.lucasarts.com/companystore/rebellion/ costs 29.95$ there. Thats how I got my copy. Includes a thick manual, etc.
I just played a large galaxy map on easy as the Rebel Alliance. I currently have Coruscant Blockaded, but I can't bring down the damned shields, and most of my characters that I sent in have been captured to sabotage those SOB Gencore Is. I have about 7 Mon Cal Cruisers and 50 other ships in that fleet, and launched about 50 military bombardements so far. So frustrating. I lost all my starfighters when the computer sent in a fleet of 8 ISDs, and 10 Support ships to try to lift the blockade. But I'm shipping in reinforcements. Oh, and I forgot to assign Ackbar as fleet commander when I sent the fleet in. I wonder if that will make a difference in the bombardements. Within the first 500 days, I got a total of 4,000 mantinence points. Right now I have 5,000, with a fleet of some 200 capital ships, and maybe 500 starfighters. Oh, and I'm only on day 1350.
